Be safe, stock up on what you need if you are going to ride it out,and if you are told to evacuate please do so. We all want to stay home with our games and stuff, but do what you need is necessary to protect your life and family. A PS3 can be replaced, you can't.
Stay safe guys.

So my PS3 hasn't gotten as much love as my 360. I'm trying to give it more time lately but it is still a task. So building toward the massive backlogs..here we have PS3. (and thanks to dv8mad for the figures to decorate the shelf)

3D Dot Game Heroes: Loved the style and retro game play. Got it on sale, put it on my shelf and forgot about it.

Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel: Need to knock out Ar Tonelico II first. Damn OCD.

Atelier Rorona: Another title I just haven't wanted to commit the time to but still had a nice art book.

Bioshock 2: I loved the first one but two friends talking a lot of crap about the escort missions have slowed down me getting to it.

Brutal Legends: For $4 it was worth it, even if all I've done is restart the game 3 times.

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena: I loved the original Xbox one so got this off Goozex. Been sitting on the shelf since.

Cross Edge: I did put a few hours into this and realized I had no idea WTF I was doing.

Demon Souls: Another slightly intimidating game. This one I 100% plan to get to though. (I actually have it scheduled after a few games I'm playing right now)

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice: Got it on release, but have to finish Disgaea 1 and 2 first

Eat Lead: Impulse lowball buy. $1 wasn't a bad deal for hopefully a short game.

Final Fantasy XIII: I've sunk 15 hours into this and I'm in Chapter 7 I think. I get an urge to go back every month or so and knock out another chapter. That is how I've continued to progress. So maybe by the end of the year Ill finish it.

Folklore: Impulse buy, even got all the DLC. I don't even know what the title screen looks like.

Hyperdimension Neptunia: Another "ooo nice box with art book" buy. I hear the game sucks.

inFAMOUS 2: Just got it. I will be finished by end of summer.

Little Big Planet: My kids love it, but I'm stuck trying to jump a freaking cactus. Stupid jumping.

Mortal Kombat: I just put this down a few weeks ago. I'm suck at the end of Kung Lao's story chapter. It will be defeated!

Nier: On sale! Yeah..looks good on the shelf.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma: I had Black on the Xbox. Got Sigma off Goozex to hopefully eventually finish it.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2: Also had it on 360. Got to level 5, wanted to switch to Sigma to finish it.

Prince of Persia Trilogy: Loved these on PS2, made the mistake of playing PoP (2008). That turned me off from the Prince for awhile.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands: Have to play the Trilogy first.

Prototype: Got at the same time as inFAMOUS. Which game isn't in my backlog?

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction: Great game, play it at least 15 minutes every month. Slowly but surely.

Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time: Have to finish Tools and Booty first.

Resident Evil 5: Need to finish RE4 first.

Sly Cooper Collection: Platinumed Sly 1 in April. Will get to 2 and 3.

Tomb Raider Trilogy: Last weekend pick-up for $4

Trinity Universe: My Father's Day gift last year. It was a good 4 hours I played it then.

Unreal Tournament III: Another Goozex pick-up. A friend said he'd get it for MP. He still doesn't have it.

Valkyria Chronicles: Awesome game. I'm about 20 hours into it. Can't remember what distracted me.

Vanquish: Got 3 weeks ago for $10 clearance at Target.

White Knight Chronicles: Another game I liked the look of, but when I saw the size of the game I kept delaying getting into it.
So that is my PS3 backlog. I'm actively playing Castlevania, Dynasty Warriors 7, and Fist of the North Star on it. So slowly pinging away at it.

I'm at a ratio of 10 for 44. So less then 25%. I wonder if it gets worse on the 360 and PS2. I know it does on the DS and PSP.

I was going to do PS3 or DS now, but I had to take a sideways picture that I don't have a program to turn the right way at the moment. So instead we'll take a look at my Gameboy Advance backlog.

Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II: I beat the first one with no real problem but this one I found to be really freaking hard. It didn't relax me as a proper bedtime/bathroom game.

Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury: I have to beat LoGII first.

Final Fantasy V Advance: I enjoyed this one and have restarted quite a few times but only get about six hours in each time before getting distracted.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: I put about 10 hours into it but got no where. Very overwhelming and full game.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones: Just grabbed this a few months ago, haven't had a chance to get to it yet.

Golden Sun II: The Lost Age: Another recent pick-up. I want to replay the first one before I get to it.

Metroid Zero Mission: I just beat the spikey crazy boss, not sure how far that is.

Super Robot Taisen: Impulse buy, really want to play them but my GBA games just don't get much love

Super Robot Taisen 2: Gotta finish #1 first.

Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis: I threw a good 50 hours into this when working overnights. I think I maybe got half-way through.

Tales of Phantasia: I got this off Goozex a few months ago. Still haven't gotten to it yet.

Still almost everything I have finished is great Breath of Fire, Breath of Fire II, Dragon Ball Z: Legacy of Goku (ehh), Final Fantasy VI Advance, Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, Metroid Fusion and Zone of the Enders: Fist of Mars.

So I'm currently at 8 out of 19 for completion. Back under 50%. Disappointing.

Now we start to get to the more meaty backlogs. (My handheld ones are smaller but I'll do those later).

So this is my Playstation 1 backlog. A backlog that has been haunting me since roughly 1997. It is also almost all RPG which makes it a bit more of a task

Arc the Lad Collection: I threw 10 hours into the original Arc and got stuck. My OCD demands I can't play Arc 2 or 3 until the first one falls before me.

Breath of Fire IV: Another game I put about 15 hours back in the day. Never got back to it but certainly want to.

Dragon Warrior VII: The fact jobs don't appear until 20 hours in and the level of grinding I found myself doing were a huge turnoff to this one. Not sure if I'll be able to go back to it.

Final Fantasy Anthology: Final Fantasy V: I have Final Fantasy V Advance, this probably won't get done.

Final Fantasy Origins: Final Fantasy II: Have FFII PSP, game sucks and will play the upgraded version

Wow..these are all done

Front Mission 3: Another game I really want to sink the time into and put about 15 hours when it first came out but haven't revisited.

Grandstream Saga: Rent this ages ago and got nearly to the end. Still have my save file in the final dungeon. Just got it from a CAG to polish it off

Koudelka: Got this years ago and was thrilled to find out it is part of the Shadow Hearts series Still hasn't gotten me to play it more then 20 minutes

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver: Only thing that stopped me on this one was my TV was old and it was to dark to play in some areas of the world map. Never tried again after getting a new set.

Legend of Dragoon: I loved this one but in late Disc 3 when the difficulty gave me the finger and jumped up I gave it up and moved on. Would love to finish it.

Legend of Mana: I just got bored of it once I realized you could corner trap/bounce all the enemies

Lunar 2: Eternal Blue: Another one where my attention span failed at 12 hours. You'd think after beating Lunar: Silver Star three times, I'd be able to knock this one out.

Mega Man Legends: I got pretty far but stuck on a boss battle where you are flying and have someone shoot hordes of missles at you. My frustration ended this one

Mega Man Legends 2: Can't do 2 without finishing 1

Ogre Batte: March of the Black Queen: I got about 18 levels in then sold it for some much needed cash. Got it back and intend to finish this time...sometime

Parasite Eve 2: Dogs kept killing me in the hotel. No other reason I stopped playing this

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment: Got off ebay a couple years ago for $10 complete. Now it is waiting for the Innocent Sin remake on PSP

Saga Frontier 2: Dying in the first battle I fought was enough to turn me off this one. I've heard it is great though once you get into the story.

Suikdoen II: I tried to do this once about a year and a half ago. Got 20 hours in then moved. By the time settled again, I forgot what I was doing and where I was going

Threads of Fate: I really just got this because of the deal EB Games offered for it, Legends of Mana and Chrono Cross

Thousand Arms: Great game but I found myself not liking the combat system though I loved the rest of it. COuldn't hold my attention once I got to the dungeons though I did put about 15 hours into it

Vagrant Story: I had no clue what I was doing when I played this. I flailed around until the second boss when shoddy playing wouldn't get me any further. I do want to try it again with a FAQ(or the guide I have)

Vandal Hearts II: I found teh first time superior in most respects. This one was incredibly wordy but didn't say anything

Wild Arms 2: No real reason I stopped playing it. Just had finished the first one and didn't have the urge to really get into the second more then an hour or two.

So that is the Playstation 1 log. I've finished a horde of great games though on it Breath of Fire III, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy I, IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, Tactics, Grandia, Kartia, Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen, Legend of Legaia, Parasite Eve, Resident Evil 2 &3, Saga Frontier, Silent Hill, Spider-Man 1&2, Suikoden, Vandal Hearts, Vanguard Bandits, and Xenogears. That doesn't even include the gems I've sold or traded away.

Overall on the Playstation I'm at 25 of 49. Finally over 50% on a single console(barely). Still with what I have left and the game length involved, it isn't a simple task to even cosnider

I normally don't do two blogs in a single day but I got the time so what the hell. The Wii is...

I normally don't do two blogs in a single day but I got the time so what the hell. The Wii is another system that has gone largely ignored by me. The kids and wife love it, I like the idea of it but normally can't keep attention on it. So here is the Wii-log. A lot of the games belong to the wife and kids so you'll see them but I won't mention them.

Batman The Brave and the Bold: Grabbed it for $9 at Gamestop. Fun simple side scroller. If short may actually knock it out.

Dragon Quest Swords: My fourth Wii game. I haven't even played it for an hour.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn: Got at same time of DQ: Swords. Won't play until I beat Path of Radiance.

Kirby's Epic Yarn: Got for the kids, they lost interest. I found it pretty fun. Still only played it for an hour when we got it last Christmas.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: My first Wii game. I played for half an hour took a week break and couldn't remember a single control. Got mad and haven't been back.

Metroid Prime Trilogy: A sealed gem off Goozex. I beat Prime on the Gamecube but never got to part 2 or 3.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles: I'm about half-way through but decided I want a Wii-gun to play with. That was a year ago.

Rune Factory Frontier: I've put 30 hours into this thing. I have no clue how far away the end is.

Samurai Warriors 3: Got to play with the kids. I love some SW but don't really plan to play this one solo.

Super Mario Galaxy: I have about 40 stars, I think I need 50 to beat it. Everytime I go to polish it off I go Oooo Xbox.

Super Paper Mario: It is waiting for Paper Mario and Thousand Year Door.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World: Waiting for me to finish original ToS.

Pretty much the only Wii game I've finished is Silent Hill: Shattered Memories which I polished off earlier this year.

The Virtual Console front isn't to much better.

Ogre Battle 64: A Person of Lordly Caliber: I have to knock out March of the Black Queen first. You know how these things work.

Paper Mario: I'm lost in some forest somewhere, even with a guide I got pissed.

Super Mario Brothers 3: World 5, plodding along every few months.

Super Mario RPG: I got about 10 hours in back in the SNES days, even less on the VC.

Super Mario World: I'm on World 6, it's slowly coming along.

Final Fantasy: My Life as the King: I'm 140 days in, another slowly but surely.

On either the VC or the original console I did finish Actraiser, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Pokemon Snap, Secret of Mana, and Super Metroid

So for the Wii we have 1 out of 14, on the VC we are kicking a 5 out of 11. These are not the percentages I aspire to.

So in the second part of breaking down the backlog I'm going to take a look at my Xbox titles. ...

So in the second part of breaking down the backlog I'm going to take a look at my Xbox titles. This one isn't as bad as I thought it was, though I have plenty of titles that I need to get it.

Darkwatch: I got this from a recent CAG lowball. Never even played it.

The Elder Scrolls II: Morrowind GOTY: I haven't played this for years. After being killed by some fish in a puddle. Still with how much I enjoyed Daggerfall and Oblivion I want to get to this one.

Fable: The Lost Chapter: I'm not sure if I would consider this backlog. I beat normal Fable but not the Lost Chapters part. That puts this one in low priority.

Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction: I got to Act 3 but never made it further when I first picked this up. Great game but easy to get distracted just rampaging through the city.

Justice League Heroes: I have a save on level 3 or so. I really want to like it but it is a poor mans MUA.

Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders: Another one where I know it works but little else. Bitterness over KUF: Heroes not working on the 360 has kept me from playing this. I may end up putting it up to sell.

Robotech:Battlecry: Half-way done and here come the Escort missions.

Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams: The Silent Hill HD Collection put this one in doubt. Once I get more details on that this maybe another seller.

Silent Hill 4: The Room: See above

So this one is actually manageable once I make some sale choices. I've already knocked out Halo, Halo 2, Jade Empire, Spider-Man, Knights of the Old Republic one and two, and X2: Wolverine's Revenge. I do find myself going back to KOTOR constantly though after ten times you'd think I had enough, I really have some love for that game.

So my completion is 7.5 out of 16 (I'll count Fable as half)

So in my quest to spend less money I'm taking an assessment of my backlog. I think I'm going lesser to great but who knows. I'm judging by how much room they take up on my shelf.

Anyway my Gamecube backlog breaks down as follows.

Dragon Ball Z Sagas: I have a save file after beating the Androids with Trunks, but never went further.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem: I got about half-way through when I first owned this years ago. I just got it back last year but haven't picked it up since.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance: Never even played it. All I know is it works.

The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition: I beat LoZ on NES, and never finished AoL, OoT, or even played MM.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door: I never finished Paper Mario (N64) so haven't even started TYD. (though I have PM on Virtual Console)

Pokemon Colosseum: I got this to play with the girls but I've been waiting for their reading skills to be up to par. I think we are about there.

Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness: Same as above.

Resident Evil Zero: I put about 7 hours into this when I first had a Gamecube then got rid of the system. Would need to start over.

Resident Evil: This fucker is hard, lol. Got a bit into it but the running zombies scared me.

Skies of Arcadia Legends: Put 15 hours into on the Dreamcast but never finished it.

Tales of Symphonia: I keep starting this and after a few hours find myself distracted. I know it is a great game, just haven't been able to stick it out so far.

I really haven't completed much on the Gamecube beyond Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes which I've beat three times. There is also the Sonic Riders, Sonic Heroes games, as well as Pokemon Channel and Teen Titans I got for the kids but have no intention of playing those myself.

So that is my smallest backlog. Most of those games on it sadly aren't high priority and some I'll only play with the rest of the series. (like RE, waiting for the Code Veronica and 4 HD on 360 or PS3)

My completion here is a pitiful 1 out of 11.

So I'm going to be taking a step back from CAG and video game news in general. Though not gaming. Confused?

As I've posted before I have major issues with impulse control on purchases. I'm the person that in-store adds and bright shiny new toys saying BUY ME are directed at. It wasn't ever an issue in the past, but recently my financial situation has changed. (no more OT/bonus/etc at work) So no more new shiny games can adorn my shelves except in extreme circumstances.

Now I know this logically, but my MUST BUY inner child doesn't. So while I'll still happily discuss things that are already out, I'm actively playing and the like. I need to stay away from the newest best thing. (that also will mean less time online and at various websites that revolve around such things.)

Hopefully this will be good for both my wallet and my massive backlog. We'll see how long it lasts. Wish me luck.

Monkey vs. Star Wars: FU2! MONKEY WINS!

So sometime last week I decided I needed a quick game to knock out of the way. Enter Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (Or FU2! as I'm sure all the negative reviewers took it)

Now FU2 isn't a bad game. It is however extremely short (less then 6 hours with DLC level), and at times can feel like a Dynasty Warrior game. (in that you are killing the same five guys for two hours).

They did tighten up the controls so you do feel in full control of a force using death machine. The enemies give some challenge but really throw (force or regular) and lightning will get you through everything.

I read the book back last November so story wise knew what to expect (and probably enjoyed it a bit more as I knew some of the side stuff they don't show you in game), but still it was a fun game. The Fett and Yoda presence are really ten second pop-ins and shouldn't have even been used as a selling point.

The Ender DLC was also enjoyable with some fun and surprising boss fights.

Overall while I'm a bit bitter over spending $60 on it when it came out, (though I did get Sims 3 free at the time, so guess I could say I spent $30) it is a good game and one I do suggest at a much lower price point.

The DBJ has opened up the floodgates and let loose the dogs of war. The battle will be bloody and there will be death but I promise you this, the Monkey will arise victorious!

The records of the DBJ in Kinect Sports will fall before me like the panties of a drunken prom date. There will be no mercy and when it is over, the surrender fo my enemy will be accepted along with their eternal servitude!

The troops are prepared! Let the battle commence!!

I normally don't touch on much beyond games in my blogs. I'll make this one exception.

As a few know I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who. I remember watching Tom Baker just as his regeneration into the Fourth Doctor on PBS with my mother when I was very little and there was Ms. Sladen as one of his first companions. Those memories mean a lot to me and someone from that time has passed on.

Elizabeth Sladen who played Sarah Jane Smith with the Third, Fourth, and Tenth Doctors died today. As a Who fan past and future (even though I hate Matt Smith) this saddens me. This is someone who I spent many hours watching on both Who, and in the Sarah Jane Adventures (which my daughters watched with me.)

So to anyone who has spent time with the Doctor and his companions, take a moment to remember Elizabeth, our Sarah Jane.

So finally my first Wii game (Silent Hill: Shattered Memories) is in the bag and with it I find the joy of having finished a game on every console in my house.

As many have seen Silent Hill has tormented me in its' own way. Shattered Memories and the Wiimote has inflicted numerous injury to Little Monkey and his Coconuts. The satisfaction of slaying that enemy cannot be put into words.

On the game side. SH: SM (I'm not typing it again) was a fun game, mainly psychological with a few chases scenes thrown in to break it up. The twist ending was well done if not fuly unexpected.

I do recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good mind game, and not necessarily just a Silent Hill fan. To a degree with the lack of combat and even really any link to the "cult" of SH, it could have not even been a Silent HIll game and still felt the same way.

Still it is good fun to compare with a friend and see how characters looked/acted different in their own playthroughs and how the ending changed based on their choice.

So as i'm trying not to start any new games in the next week, I figured I'd buckle down and maybe finally knock out Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on the Wii.

So I load it up and I'm in the art room in the school trying to solve a puzzle. I quickly knock it out and proceed forward. I found myself thinking "Hmm...this game is pretty good. Why did I stop playing it?" Well I documented that previously

As I ran into the next "Otherworld" area I quickly found out why. This game hates my balls. It doesn't just hate them, it wants to smash them into gravy.

To throw off the creatures you have to swing the Wiimote and nunchuk in whatever direction you are being attacked from. A simple gentle motion won't do either. It takes a sharp quick movement.

Well said movement will send the cord connecting the Wiimote and the nunchuk snapping to and fro. With the length of the cord, this seems to cause it to always impact in my crotch.

I've tried holding the Wiimote at different heights. Chest level, waist level, they all snap into the boys. Head level it doesn't but then the cord comes up and hits me in the face.

So after dying three or four times, (If you move to far to the side, the flashlight/POV will get stuck for a second and let the monsters get you. Resulting in more nut-pain) I got past the Otherworld and back to the main game. Again...not bad. Still I wasn't sure if the tension i was feeling was from the game or simply from the agony I knew awaited at the new chase sequence.

I plan to try a new tactic tonight. Jeans over shorts. I'm hoping the double layer of padding will protect me from the true horror of Silent Hill.

So over the weekend Monkey finished up the great XBLA game of Costume Quest and the DLC Grubbins on Ice.

Overall it was a great experience of an arcade game. It was short at about 5 hours or so and 2 hours for the DLC, but was fun to play, had a good story, and easy acheivements. Win!

My only complaint was the DLC. Though it was fun, it was extremely short (2 hours max) and really was more of the same. I would have liked a bit more mixing it up or seen a longer DLC to make use of the new costumes. My other complaint is the lack of a monkey costume!

Still it is easily one of the top 5 XBLA games I've played and I recommend it to anyone. So the backlog had fallen further. Can this continue?! We won't know until next episode!
