I bring it up because I just finished Dead Money for Fallout NV and HATED it. I specifically kept this DLC as the last one I'd do since I'd heard it was bad, but damn it was unbearable. Repetitive combat, uninteresting story, bear-traps that where EVERYWHERE and nearly invisible, not nearly enough ammo or health, confusing map layout... you name it. The loot for the end was supposed to be really good but was STILL kind of a a kick de la dick. (You get 37 really valuable gold bars and can only carry like 5 max) So, worst DLC you've ever played?

Having just finished Sonic Generations and being my first Saturday off in a while (Spring Break! :)), it was time to move on to the next shrinkwrap that was the shiniest that caught my eye from the backlog cave. Mass Effect 1 was a bit slow in the beginning, but picking up biotics and other Vanguard powers got me into it as you started seriously trailing Saren. Anyways, I reached Virmire and got to the point where you go to the Salarian Camp. I knew beforehand that there comes a point where you confront Wrex, but I knew there was a way to get out of it. Here's where it gets messy. When I landed on Virmire, I had a bunch of points saved up from the Feros level. (Fucking Thorian and Asari Clone :hot:) I leveled up almost entirely into Assault Training and got the Carnage with shotgun. I saved JUST after that. Keep that in mind. What I didn't realize about the Wrex situation is that you have to either: have Charm, help Wrex get his family armor, or miss certain team members. I didn't have either. I got 4 stat points by the time I reached the camp and I needed six to get Charm high enough to persuade Wrex. Efff. I was getting used to Wrex and pairing him with Garrus. Beyond that, he's easily the most interesting campanion over cardboard Kaidan and the biatch Williams. I realized I'd have to restart the level. Then it dawned on me I couldn't gain enough XP to gain the extra level, unless.... I fought all the Geth on foot, including Armeture and Colossi :hot: Uggh... It was tedious, but goddamn was it satisfying when I finally got there... Three hours well spent

I honestly don't think I've seen more hype for any game quite like this. I really had no idea Mass Effect was THIS big. Among my friends, I've never seen them even close to this excited for a game release since either Gears 3 or Modern Warfare 2. I remember Halo 3 being insanely hyped too. But this is outrageous. Don't get me wrong, I like the series and I plan on getting the game as soon is it nears the $35-30 mark, but dang. This whole site has got the ME3 shakes like a crack addict. Ce'st la vie.

While I may be a CAG Veteran, I've only been here around 6 months now. So, naturally I'm a little puzzled when some of you old timers (yes yes GET OFF MY LAWN and what not) bring up guys like ChuPlayer and FireThief. Anyone wanna enlighten me on any of the things they did? Trolling? Disturbing stuff? Anybody got any examples? Links? I was here to witness the terror and fortunate end of Gargus, so that's something...

*SPOILERS* I just finished RDR, and got all the in-game achievements (my Undead Nightmare...

*SPOILERS* I just finished RDR, and got all the in-game achievements (my Undead Nightmare Collection hasn't arrived from Gamefly yet) and... masterpiece. :applause: Mind you, this is coming from someone who is not into sandbox games AT ALL, I usually find them too broad and I have little incentive to actually play them and it seems like most people (to me atleast) play to dick around. I enjoyed GTA4 relatively well, because I could relate to Niko and actually felt incentive in getting his "revenge". I enjoyed LA Noire, but traded it in once all the cases were done, since I had little incentive to play. Well, RDR is kinda like a midpoint between the two. It wasn't as off the wall and open as GTA, but not as limiting and tedious as something like LAN. By god, it was nothing short of incredible. I could sit here for hours and list off the DOZENS of moments I will NEVER forget from RDR, but the one that stood out the most was the ending... You come home to a wife you never really knew, a son you never really bonded with, a farm where you aimed to cleanse your sins and start a new life. It's all taken away, ironically by a man who was also looking to attain glory through evil means. You fight valiantly, but it seems the game abruptly ends...you find yourself playing as John's son, who has picked up all of his dads strenghts. But I still had the lingering question.. where exactly was the "redemption"? I go to town and activate one last mission, where I confront my dad's Judas, and I gun him down in memory of John's honor, and as the camera pans backwards... *BANG* REDEMPTION! I will never, ever forget that moment. It was probably the most satisfying moment I've ever experienced in 12 years of gaming. Well done Rockstar. Get some well-deserved rest John. :-({|=

How Trophies/Achievements can change a game

I was never too big on the thought of Achievements/Trophies. Why let specific game events deter you...

I was never too big on the thought of Achievements/Trophies. Why let specific game events deter you from enjoying the actual game YOUR way? That was my reasoning, until lately that is.

The game in question that recently changed my opinion is the original Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. If you've played the game, you know that it was patched to include trophy support. I never finished the original Uncharted, I just found it to be far too repetitive (walk in, *BAM* *BAM* *BAM* *BAM*, solve basic puzzle, *BAM* *BAM* *BAM* *BAM*). I did like UC2 , combat seemed a little more varied to me and I liked the addition of stealth. With the impending release of UC3 and  from constantly replaying the beta, I decided I needed to give Drake's Fortune another chance. Boy am I glad I did. :) Right away I noticed a huge difference in combat. I needed to vary up the combat because the standard "steam roll everything in sight with the AK47" approach is what largely turned me off the first game. Hand to hand combat and the brutal combos were definitely the highlight for me. I actually was egged on to be more inventive in combat as I saw more trophies being unlocked. By the end of the playthrough I'd gotten all the "certain amount of kills with specific weapon" trophies, and I found around 30 treasures. Can't wait to go back and find all the treasures, and, who knows, maybe go at a platinum run. ;) I've heard Crushing mode can be a real bitch though.

Oh yeah, before I forget....

GIVE US TROPHIES IN MGS4 ALREADY KOJIMA! :bomb:

:bomb:I have had a string of bad luck with some gaming transactions as of lately, and I just need...

:bomb:I have had a string of bad luck with some gaming transactions as of lately, and I just need to vent. It started a month ago when I ordered Super Mario 64 DS on Amazon, supposedly "brand new" for $12 shipped. I was ECSTATIC, because I played the bits out of the original SM64, and the DS version was a HUGE improvement. When I got it, it was in a standard envelope, the one you'd use for a gas bill. I had never been the best at putting the correct shapes in my toys as a child, but even I knew that DS case was NOT in there. I then noticed a small tear in the corner of the envelope. When I opened it, there was no game inside! Fuck! I contacted the seller and told him that the game had probably been taken because he wrote "Inside:Super Mario 64 DS" on the back. Obviously someone had taken the game out and could easily credit the missing game to a small tear during handling. He was happy to give me a refund, but he's new to Amazon and for some reason I only got half of my money back! :hot: He said it was an error and he'd work on it. I just TODAY, 27 days later, got all of it back.

Later I went to Sears and got a bunch of really good clearance items on DS, but two of the shrinkwrap-less games (probably should have checked on my part ) were missing the games. It was a headache trying to get the cranky old lady to believe me, and even THEN I had to pay a 10% re-stocking fee! Fuck! FOR WHAT! SO YOU CAN RESTOCK CASES! :bomb:

Later I incidentally stumbled upon the Black Ops Prestige Edition deal for 14.99! HUZZAH! MY FORTUNES HAD CHANGED! I was in for two, and I was pretty confident because I was among the first to order them. Right away I found one was backordered.. Oh well. But the hassle the other one has been giving me is beyond belief. I was :bouncy: for joy when I found my other had SHIPPED! BOO FRICKIN YEAH! I wondered for 2-3 days that my shipment hasn't progressed beyond the "label has been created, come take this shit UPS" response. Customer service led me one for another 3 days, and finally I got a lady to file a tracer on the package. She assured me that she'd take care of it and it would most likely be found and brought to me. Here's hoping ;)! She said worst comes to worst, I could get a pretty handsome deal because of the inconvenience. So the next day, I found UPS had started a case near the town near me. HOW DOES THAT WORK? It never left the warehouse, so you check to see if Solid Snake himself had snuck into my package and slip past UPS ALL THE WAY HERE!? Then I got an e-mail saying that credit had been applied to my order. Fuck! :hot: I EXPLICITLY said I did NOT want credit back. Many a headbanging with CS got me nowhere. It's been past the standard 3 days UPS takes for tracers, and NO UPDATE. Best Buy has taken almost the full 5 days but credit hasn't taken affect on my purchase. At this point, whatever, just give me my money back, but instead my account has been held up $40 so I could have a good delving into INSANITY with the dumbest CS agents known to man. (At one point I pondered whether or not I could just get the REGULAR Black Ops game, but the school-girlish CS agent said that there was too much of a price gap between the standard manilla version that goes for $53 bucks and the MSRP ALONE $150 package I'd gotten. Right. I was pretty fumed and went off on how much of a frustration all of this had been, and my account had been held up money for nothing, and that I don't know how much more of a "similar deal" the STANDARD version of the game could be to the super-valuable version with a lot of goodies THEY'D fucked UP! She hung up on ME lol) I've given up and just want my money back and the credit hasn't taken affect. Oy...

And today, I got home after getting the Fallout New Vegas Collector's Edition from my local Gamstop for $30. Pretty happy about that! ;) So I open it up and of course I see that the "Making Of New Vegas" DVD isn't there. :hot::hot::hot:
I just sent an e-mail to Bethesda asking for one. I've been listening to the Friends theme song a lot, because it has NOT been my month, and at this point, looking to be my year from a gaming standpoint.
