When I first heard about this I was amazed at the technology, but now I'm afraid that the future is coming too soon.
In Macross Plus the hologram pop-star Sharon Apple develops as a malevolent AI, takes over the SDF Macross and the unmanned experimental jet and tries to kill the good guys fighting her and hypnotizes everyone else.

When you combine this with the fact that the British satellite system is called SKYNET just like in the Terminator movies.

I was just walking around my local Dollar Tree saw this and snapped it up for a cheapass $1.00.

It came out in 2001 and was apparently available for multiplayer via the Gamespy Arcade. Also if you look closely at the back cover you can see it includes the original Combat as a bonus level.
