I'll be hanging out over a bud's house Friday night and was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for us to play on the 360. We'll be playing on a single 360 and we'd like to both play at the same time if possible.

I was hoping for suggestion that was a bit atypical. I'm not looking for Rockband or COD or NHL or the like...

Thanks

The repair process wasn't too bad. I sent it out June 23 and received it back on July 3. That's much faster than previous repairs.

But Shhh...don't tell Microsoft, I really haven't been playing it. I'm hooked on inFamous and I don't see myself playing too much 360 until I finish both sides of the campaign. I'm going for the all trophies, too. I also picked up MLB the Show 09 while my 360 was in the shop. I really dig it. I started playing the road to show. I hope to crack the Red Sox starting lineup any day now.

My 360 won't be collecting too much dust because of Netflix. I think if my PS3 had Netflix, I wouldn't be turning my 360 on for a while. Why risk getting another RRoD.

This got me wondering if any other RRoD'd CAGs have had similar experiences. For instance, did anybody play their 360 the majority of the time, then have it break, play another system, then upon the 360's return, stick with your other system? How long did it take for you to get back the 360 back into the flow?

HiDef Camcorder, which one?

I've mention this camera thing before and thanks for the help, but I'm getting real close to pull...

I've mention this camera thing before and thanks for the help, but I'm getting real close to pull the trigger. My previous camcorder was the Sony HRD-HC3 which used miniDV tapes. I hated using the tapes along with that the firewire port (ilink) broke.

I've been looking at flash HD camcorders. I've been leaning towards getting something that uses an external flash card. I am also looking on spending around $700 or less. I've been thinking of the following:

Sanyo Xacti 1010 it's $648 and it's the one that Cheapy has.

You hold this one a bit differently than a traditional camcorder; I wonder if I could get used to it?

Canon VIXIA HF100 amazon has it for $599, but it won't ship for a month

Canon VIXIA HF10 built-in 16GB Flash for $711

Both of the Canons pretty much look the same.

I haven't included a Sony because my previous one broke so I'm a bit hesitant to get another.

I have 2 kids and was planning on using to record their activities along with our frequent trips to Disney World.

Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Console Scheduling? Am I nuts?

I'm lucky to have all of the current consoles and handhelds. I have been playing a ton of 360...

I'm lucky to have all of the current consoles and handhelds. I have been playing a ton of 360 lately and neglecting my other systems. Granted most of games that have been coming out are either exclusive to the 360 or I have chosen the 360 version for the potential chance to play along w/ friends. I guess you could also add achievement points to my reason. I love me a higher gamerscore.

So I have been thinking of coming up with a schedule for my gaming. This is weird because of I'm pretty far from a scheduled person. I usually do everything by the seat of my pants, but I'm thinking of something like this:

Sunday - 360
Monday - Wii (Virtual Console release day)
Tuesday - PSP
Wednesday - 360 (XBLA release day)
Thursday - DS
Friday - PS3 (PSN release day)
Saturday - Pick One or maybe PC

I thought since I still have a ton of 360 games I would play that more often than the others.

Another reason I was thinking of doing this was because of my pile of shame was getting pretty high and the titles are getting older and older.

Games I that own and want to finish or play much more of:
Wii - Zelda, Metroid
PS3 - Hot Shots, MLB The Show, Wipeout HD
PSP - GTA Vice and Liberty stories, Patapon
DS - Zelda Phantom Hourglass
:360:- way too many too list

The Buy 2 Get 1 free isn't going to help.

Rock Band 2 = Quality Family Time

We played a lot of Rock Band 2 this week. For my family - me, wife, 2 kids (8 and 5) it's a huge...

We played a lot of Rock Band 2 this week. For my family - me, wife, 2 kids (8 and 5) it's a huge WIN! There's nothing like hearing your 5 year old sing along w/ the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Bosstones, and Bon Jovi and your 8 yr old windmilling like Pete Townshend. This isn't our first time playing Rock Band. We played a ton of the first one. My 5 yr old would sing, 8 yr old on Bass, my wife on guitar, and me on drums. We plowed through a bunch of songs, but would always hit a wall because of the difficulty. Which brings me to one of the newest features of Rock Band 2 - NO FAIL MODE.

NO FAIL MODE is great. We can jam away and not worry about any of us failing out of songs. The kids love it. My 5 yr old can strum away w/o consequence. There are couple of other new feature that seem pretty cool, too: challenges and drum trainer.

CHALLENGES I'm still trying to understand the challenges fully, but I like what I've played through so far. They have ones that are for specific instruments and some have time limits. There's some potential leaderboard fun to be had as you compare your particulars against your friends. I feel like this could be a diversion from my GeoWars 2 addiction. I just need some friends to get it so we can compete against each other. I think I maybe getting tired of picking up geoms.

DRUM TRAINER is another cool feature. I haven't fully explored it, but so far so good. It allows you to alter the speeds and different note layouts. It also has a Freestyle mode which allows you to wail away to any song (even songs from your own collection). This is a great one for my kids. See this lets them play along with the Jonas Brothers and that is a big deal. Talking about the Jonas Brothers, my kids are dying for some DLC from the Bros. I know if that day ever comes I won't be able to say no especially with my track record of impulse purchases (I'm looking at you JukeBox Hero and Brass in Pocket).

SONG EXPORTER One more thing, I exported all of the songs from the first Rock Band. What a great idea! Even though it cost 5 bucks it's so cool to have the option. It's crazy how many songs are now available. The only drawback is that it almost makes you lose track of the new ones from Rock Band 2. You really have to keep an eye out for them.

BTW - I had a successful Gamestop trip to get Rock Band 2 (and the Viva Pinata TIP). I took advantage of their get 15 extra bucks when you trade in 3 games. Along with that I recently took a bunch of E-Reward surveys and got a $25 gift card for my trouble. So with all the trades and my giftcard, I got both games for grand total of 15 bucks. Sweet.

For those of you keeping score at home. I traded in (all 360) - Fatal Inertia, NFL Head Coach 09, Viva Pinata, Stuntman: Ingntion, Def Jam Icon, Kengo. Expect for VP, I purchased all of these for the purpose of trading in. They were Best Buy YMMV cheapos and Blockbuster buy one get one free. Head Coach was a freebie in the Madden's 20th Collector Edition ( I got Madden as gift).

I forgot my sandwich at home, so I'm off to get something at the plethora of lunch options that surround the office. I'm terrible at deciding where to go so I thought that maybe you guys could help me. One thing I've noticed in Orlando is the incredible variety of fast food joints.

Here are some choices all within 2 mintues:

- Steak-n-Shake
- Chick-fil-a
- Chipotle
- Wendy's
- Burger King
- Boston Market
- Long Silver's/Taco Bell
- Subway

Geo Wars2 addiction and trying to find the Red Sox game on TV in FLA

GeoWars 2, man I can't get enough of this game. Every time I turn on my 360 I have to immediately...

GeoWars 2, man I can't get enough of this game. Every time I turn on my 360 I have to immediately check the leaderboards if I see that I don't have the top spot amongst my friends I have to play until I do.

So I must thank karatechop16 and xx otama xx for keeping me away all other games I should be playing such as Madden, NCAA, and my pile of "picked it up on the cheap and I want to try it," which right now is Conan.

Back to GeoWars2, it's crazy how much better you get at the game each time you play it. I'm getting scores that a month ago I would have never thought possible. It's the type of game when you finally get that high score you feel like nobody will touch that for a while, then BANG one of your buds kills it. I'm hooked, but Rock Band 2 is on the horizon...

As I mentioned previously I moved from Boston to Orlando. I'm a pretty big Red Sox fan so I ordered the MLB.tv package which allows you watch all the games on your PC. It's been great because the quality is near HD and you can get the local broadcasts of your favorite team, but it doesn't let you watch games that are in your market. The Sox were playing Tampa Bay the other night and I'm in the Tampa Bay market so I couldn't watch the Sox on my PC; I had to find it on the local channel.

It took me about 5 minutes of searching - it wasn't on Fox Sports, ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, it's on the ION...wtf? ION is carrying the game, it's in SD and it's analog so it's fuzzy, ugly, and the ratio is all eff'd up. It had black bars on the sides which I can deal with, but these bars were ridiculous. It made everybody skinny; David Ortiz looked like Jimmy Walker. It was like watching the game through a funhouse mirror after some kid wiped his hands on it after eating fried dough. I took a picture to help show it what I mean (that's a 42" TV):

I've also been thinking of getting a Slingbox and have my brother set it up back in Boston. That way I can watch all the Boston sports that I'd miss down here.

Hey I'm back to my blog. I didn't realize it, but I took almost 2 months off. That was never my intention.

I moved. Yup from the Boston area to Orlando, FL. Everything came together really fast. I didn’t really get to do a proper send off to friends and family. We had to move out of Mass, fly down to Orlando, move into temporary housing, find a place to live, get the kids enrolled in school in about 2 weeks. It was pretty rough.

We are living in a 3 bedroom apartment in one of those planned community (they call it New Urbanism). It's a bit Stepford-wives-ish. Everything is super planned out, but they have great schools and everything is within 2 minutes (schools, grocery store, gas station, drugstore, etc...). I find it odd with all the planning that went into the community it has this huge power plant in the horizon (think The Simpson's Springfield). I should take a picture.

It’s a pretty big adjustment going from house to apartment along with moving from New England to Florida. The kids are handling it very well; I’m trying. I’m just not used to apartment living it’s been 10 years since I’ve lived in one. One of the good things so that we live above a great Italian restaurant and the owners are all from Mulberry Street (NY Little Italy). Some days it looks like Satriale’s, I keep on expecting to see Paulie Walnuts and Christopher sitting outside smoking.

Next blog will be about what I've been playing...you can't wait can you?

After that, I plan on heading over to Safeco to catch a game. The Red Sox are in town so I'm pretty excited. I've been coming to Seattle for the last 10 years and have always just missed the Sox. I hope I can catch more than one game if possible.

This morning I grabbed breakfast and decided to walk down to the Pike Place Marketplace (the guys that throw the fish around)with a co-worker. I noticed so many Red Sox hats and t-shirts it was ridiculous. I felt I was walking around Faneuil Hall instead of Pike Place.

A couple of other things:

Before leaving Boston, I stayed up until 4AM and finished MGS4 much to the chagrin of my wife. I still didn't watch the last cutscene. I'll comment more on the game later...I'm still digesting.

My wife and I opened the Endless Setlist in Rockband. We now can try to play 58 songs in a row. It's worth some nerd points. We want to do it before we move.

On my flight, I played a couple of puzzles on Professor Layton. I didn't play with my PSP I'll probably check it out on the flight back.

I flew Jet Blue so I got to watch TV. So I watched the Sox blow another one in the late innings. I also checked out some Iron Chef America and International House Hunters. Gotta love TV during a 6 hour flight.

I haven't heard too many people talking about it. I included a link from the MS website. Last year they had a contest of the XNA XBLA games among other things.
