I've been trying this method for the past two days and had zero success. No Skittles , no Slim Jim, just the same old stuff … well, with one exception — a link to the Axe Man Cave came up once. Oh joy for me. 
Now, for those whom this method IS working, are you folks using the Beta dashboard (as I sadly am) or the normal one?
And DeLane79, I absolutely agree with your statement (with a small change):
It's rather depressing to know Microsoft believes 48-year-olds are too old to be included in these avatar freebies...
I know I want these, so why the hell can't Microsoft? 
Truly does seem they feel older gamers such as myself should just roll over and die rather than continue gaming onward…
