Late Sunday night I traded in my 40GB PS3 for $125. I was upset to find out that just 10 hours later the promo changed the way it did. I just got back from GameStop & after spending over an hour waiting around for the store manager to make a bunch of phone calls & figure out how to sort things out on their computer system I finally got $160 in trade-in credit.

I asked why my 40GB wasn't getting $180 in store credit & he showed me their base price list. Turns out the 40GB's base trade-in credit price is *$80 (not $60, that was a typo). So, ALL systems do NOT have the same base price.
