As a parent myself, I can state pretty clearly that several of the kids my son plays with have already asked their parents for a WiiU for Christmas. The WiiU has been discussed on NPR, in major magazines, on general interest websites and on those tech segments they do on the local news. People definitely know about it and if nothing else, they understand it's a new system from Nintendo. You are totally deluded if you think this isn't going to attract a crowd on Sunday morning, even if it's primarily flippers and profiteers.
That doesn't automatically make you someone who understands retail. There won't be a line of people waiting to preorder a system.
