If something requires
Origin and you get it from GG then yes you need to activate the key on Origin. This was the case with the Command and Conquer pack I have from them.
If it's an older EA game that activates
on Origin but doesn't flat out require it then you should still get a download from Gamersgate if you want to do a direct download.
