This is true, but the owner of the rights to Kingdoms of Amalur on Steam is now the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, since they held the majority interest in 38 Studios when it went under. Rhode Island isn't a video game production company, so things are in limbo until the bankruptcy is sorted out. Tony's said in this thread that he sends emails frequently, but also that it's not easy to find out *who* to contact about this. If both Tony and Valve aren't able to pull it off, I think we can bet that Origin is the only place we're going to see Amalur at a reasonable price.

Tony's been very upfront about this in this thread. It's an ongoing process of contacting publishers and seeing what kind of deals they're interested in making. Nothing can be 100% confirmed or denied, so he isn't confirming or denying anything. That's just the reality of the business -- any business.
