I prefer to think of it in terms of money I'll spend on the monthly fee vs how much time I'll get out of it. For fifteen bucks, it's quite easy to get 20+ hours in a month out of an MMO. I can think of a large number of games that I beat in far less time and (foolishly) paid far more for.
