Yeah more than anything this is a response to the Vita price.

Nintendo hoped 3D would be the big selling point, it wasn't. They made money on the million or so people willing to jump in early, now for the holiday they push a really strong lineup of games at almost $100 less than Vita.

I don't see how it's a bad thing for Nintendo..
