With your line of reasoning, you can use your CC to buy a $20 Gamestop gift card, and then use it to buy Xenoblade....and that would mean Xenoblade only cost...$30? Even if you got your gift card from someone else, it still means you spent it. Did you know charity organizations have to account for donations as "revenue?" It's not like you reduced the purchasing price with a coupon.
