I did also. I was pretty bored with it. I'll admit I liked it at first but lost interest a couple hours in.

Same here. Really tried to like it but just no fun for me at all. Always suprises me how many folks say they love it.

Grabbed Shifting Worlds, figured I should have one 3ds game for when it finally gets here.

That was around my price point for The Witcher 2. Had a $5 coupon about to expire so got it for $14 and some change.

This.

Calinks. You need to start UC2 right away. I had it for 2 years now, and just unwrapped it yesterday. The game is just simply amazing. I can't believe I was playing all of these other mediocre games before this gem. What a fantastic game Uncharted 2!

One review I read said all the shootouts in U3 can be done in stealth or guns blazing. I love stealth like MGS and Deus Ex, so this sold me on the game. U2 had a lot of enemy waves after enemy waves that I got tired of.

Anyone who's played both and knows what I mean, any comments?

Picked it up for my brother. I've played through it already, it's incredible.

uncharted 2 is a damn masterpiece.

uncharted 3 is fantastic, but not quite Uncharted 2.
I felt like any game that has managed to have three iterations this generation has worked this way:

First game - Awesome because its new and brings new ideas, new world

Second game - The devs outdo themselves and make a game better than 1 in every way. Polished game

Third game - Technically a good game but too much of the same thing, novelty gone

I've felt this way with Mass Effect, Uncharted, COD4-MW2-MW3, a few others I can't remember right now.

I'll add the Assassin's Creed franchise to this list.

I'd actually say that could be done twice.

AC - Nice original idea, played well, some flaws, but overall good

AC2 - Huge leap forward, added great things and had one of my (personal) favorite stories in games lately

AC:B - Improved on 2(already a huge improvement on 1), slight step back in story

AC:R - Really just tied up the loose ends and didn't even feel needed.

I really hope that AC3 is as good as AC2 or AC:B

Has anyone ever been conflicted about buying a game on sale? I mean I want to buy The Darkness 2 because it's so cheap, but I have absolutely ZERO interest in ever playing it, none, what should I do? lol

Uhhh...buy it!

All joking aside, you may have to ask yourself if you've become a collector. (And stop calling those 50-150 games a "backlog")

Seriously, this was maybe the game I had the most FUN with this year. The game is not super long (played through twice) but it is just such a fun game. I love the cell-shade look also (I wish more games did this) and the story is actually not that bad.

Plus Ch. 2 town is set up horribly (also where the crappy map comes into play.)

Also, combat is decent but doesnt feel fantastic or anything. It has a great story but it might be less annoying to just watch that on youtube...lol thats what i did with alan wake because i found the gameplay so awful in that one.
Thanks for the info - that's really helpful to know. I ended up not getting Witcher this time, but maybe when it's much cheaper I will. (though, for the record, Alan Wake was one of my fav games, though i know what you mean about gameplay. Hope you saw the metal concert level on youtube -- that was one of the best single moments in gaming of recent years)

Did get UC3 and Darkness2

Talk about a lot of personal opinion. The witcher 2 is fantastic. A lot of backtracking? The world in the witcher isn't huge to start off so the backtracking isn't that bad. 5 steps is about accurate though but you make it sound like its a huge deal. Open quick menu, meditate, click on alchemy, select recipe, click create potion, confirm. All done in about 15 seconds.

Theres a video even showing the proccess.

The map and quest markers are acceptable. Sure they don't spell everything out for you or show you exactly where to go like in Da2 but they give you a general idea of where and what you need to do. This game doesn't need to hold your hand. The zones for each area are not huge like skyrim. Since the Witcher 2 is a story driven game first and foremost and while there are extra things to do the areas are about as big as you'd expect them to be in this type of rpg. Big enough to feel satisfying and not completely linear but not big enough where you find yourself getting tired of wandering around. Also the combat system for me was enjoyable, even before the enhancements were added. The witcher 2 is a fantastic RPG with 2 seperate branching storylines. If you play through it once you'll miss out on good chunk of story.
