Sure, they add new things to the game...but when problems that were patched in previous iterations of the software continuously reoccur in the following year's game, what are we supposed to believe? Then, when you add to that that I'm getting older and my free time is becoming more limited, the thought of wasting it on a game that doesn't even understand basic principles of science...let alone the sport it is trying to emulate is just maddening. At this point, the biggest reason I continue to buy the game is because of the friends I've made while playing it. We have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs...but it's not because of goalie fights or realistic skating. We could be playing Uno or Tiddly Winks 2013 and have a good time (after all, we did get through Operation Raccoon City...). As for NHL, I guess at the end of the day, as long as people realize they're playing a shitty, horrendously programmed game, then I can sleep peacefully at night, lol.
The point here is just that in these instances, instead of having such a high intensity with all these scoring chances, people would have to ease up or spend much of the game playing shorthanded. This is not how NHL 13 plays (to be fair, I was warned beforehand about your propensity for hitting, and I did try to up mine as well, as not to get completely bullied). And lastly, just your approach to scoring chances. There was a lot of rushing down the ice at top speed, throwing something on net, and hoping for a garbage bounce (or complete and utter goalie stupidity, as Rinne showed). Not as much setting up plays, cycling the puck, etc. Like I said though, I can't really hold it against you though because "it's what works". But would I call it intelligent hockey? No, I wouldn't. I'd call it NHL 13. If EA actually had the balls (or the knowledge) to call a game properly, it would force people to adjust to a more realistic style, instead of just doing whatever the game lets them get away with. But I've been waiting on that for a long time...and I'll probably be waiting a good while longer. |

Also a heads up I will be gone on Vacation from the 5th until the 13th. I was hoping advancement days would continue to be Tuesdays so I could play out my games. I won't be able to set my games for CPU until the 6th unless I get a chance before I head to the airport, as I won't have access to an apple device until then(or is it even possible to set cpu via the app?). I will be able to check posts on here and my messages while I'm away though. On top of that I would like to confirm with the Commissioner that you have received the Suter trade for acceptance? |

Let's see, last time I checked when you have the puck in open ice it's legal to hit you. Which I would say at least 9 of the 11 were you skating dead on into a defender or getting ready to shoot and getting hit. So what you're saying is that I should let you just skate on your merry way or take your shot and cross my fingers it doesn't go in? If you thought that was hitting than you haven't seen anything. If you want me to hit like I am capable of, than I gladly will if we play again. Just don't come on here and cry when I take one of your players out. I have drastically toned down my hitting since the first week of play. I even did more so in our game because I know that you weren't to fond of some of the hits thus far. Believe me, the final hits wouldn't have been 11 to 11 if I was playing like I started out. As for crashing the net... You say I crashed the net. Apparently you failed to notice that it was my AI guys. Which is something that happens at least 5 times a game. I agree with you that it should be called, but it's no big deal. Live with it, because it's better than getting called for multiple penalties for goalie interference for an AI guy that you have no control over. Yea it'd be awesome when it's the other guy that gets called, but something tells me there would be a lot of complaining by the person it got called on. Similar to the messed up roughing calls when the game first came out. Now for my "rushing down the ice" and "throwing something on net"... When you are giving up constant odd man rushes why the hell would I slow down and wait for my team and your team to set up when I have a scoring opportunity. If you are going to give me the opportunity to get the odd man rushes, than I'm going to take them. I'm more than capable of setting up a play and rotating the puck and have done it multiple times through the first 18 games, but if you think for a minute that I'm going to say, "Hey, he's not playing defense I better stand here for a few seconds while his guys catch up," than you are sadly mistaken. At the end of it all, yea I got 2 lucky goals when all I was trying to do was prevent an odd man rush going back the other way. You take those two away and I still win 2-1. 2 legitimate goals, a 2 on 1, and a possession that I rotated the puck and you left center ice wide open for a one-timer passed from behind the net. You need to chill out... It's a game. Take the loss and move on to the next game. |

ing whistle. And your assertion that you scored two legit goals, so you "would have won anyway" just shows how far your head is up your ass. In the 3rd period, in a 3-1 game, I'm taking chances I wouldn't normally take. So, scoring a final dagger in that situation really isn't incredibly shocking. In a 1-1 game, those same risks wouldn't be taken. But coming from somebody who has "If you don't like the way I play, quit or get better" in his XBL profile, I'm not surprised that a concept like that eludes you. Whatever, man. It's one game. Just wanted to let you know that I think your playstyle is shit, and you reap the benefits of an unrealistic understanding of the game. If saying that is drawing a line in the sand, then so be it. But you admitting that you'd rather play with an "anything to win" mentality than with an honorable one tells me all I need to know. |

But I would have felt like shit if it injured his player. I was just thinking of the context of the situation...which I felt warranted Weber aggressively following his shot. I still think the game should call penalties realistically. Hell...I'd even love to see suspensions. If they had suspensions in this game, I never would have gone for that hit in a million years. I'm all for anything that adds actual realism to the game, as opposed to superhuman goalies and magnetic sticks that EA thinks is "realism". |

From what I can tell for the next Advancement Period I will have games against:
Toronto Pittsburgh Chicago Colorado Nashville Phoenix Los Angeles As I will be away from the 5th to 13th I will try and set my team to allow you to play the CPU before I leave. Please do your best NOT to injure my players that is all I ask. Thank you, have fun and play nice while I'm gone all. |

Chicago here.
I hope to be on more this weekend around 11:00 PM and later. I may have some time in the afternoons on Saturday and Sunday as well and will try to post here to give whoever needs to play me a head's up. I think I really got too ambitious as I joined two leagues. For the record, I enjoy this league more because I've played with some of you guys in an MLB 2K league before and the settings of this league are MUCH more to my liking. The other league I'm in you seriously can't even pass to guys wide open 10 feet from you accurately. The gameplay consists of carrying the puck up the ice with the same player while the defense constantly tries to poke check it from you. It's actually quite comical but I'm thinking about quitting that league and focusing on this one a bit more. |

"I'm not a racist or anything, buuttt......" Insert most racist comment you'll hear all week.
"I don't think I've ever seen someone dislike something so much, yet still decide to invest so much time into it." Insert Nates name since he has put this league together. Different but the same. |

Well, you'll probably end up doing better than me. I have one of the best teams in the game and am still well below .500. You and I should be playing soon, actually, with the Kings and Blackhawks scheduled to meet on November 21 and 27.

As for saying that I'd rather play with an "anything to win" mentality I don't know when I admitted that. I think you must have some tears obstructing your eyes. Like I said, I've toned it down since the first week, but I still don't intend to lay down for anyone. I'm competitive and play to have fun. Whether I'm winning or losing I'm having fun. When I'm not having fun, I'll switch games. I think a majority of the people I played would say that I have played a pretty fair game. A few people could be upset, and I could easily name which ones they are since I realized afterwards that I probably was going a little too hard. For instance Destro had every right to be pissed about our game, I was going pretty hard, and had all the luck in the world in that game, and I did have a bad hit on Johnson when I played Moojuice for that should have been a boarding and later had one put on me. As for my XBL profile... Maybe you should take what it says to heart. Man the up and stop whining like a little bitch.
