Manager wouldn't let me out the door without putting it on a pre-order. Me: Can't we just put the rest on the card? Manager: I would if it was a dollar or two, but that's too much. Me: Ok, well I'll just return it. I guess I'll pre-order uh.. the zombie game for Wii U.. Zombie U? Manager: The reason you're getting this much is because of the promo and you have to pre-order and come pick it up. Me: Ok, I'll get Zombie U

I would have walked out and never returned to that gamestop. Manager lied to you.

No, no he was doing me a favor by processing my trade-ins on a company wide promo resulting in a marginally higher credit value and I better show my gratitude by pre-ordering a game through him.

Meant to post it here for JP instead of the 100% promo thread. The reason for the refurb fee is because I turned in mine as is (BD drive is dead).

I do have an NBA 2K12 to get rid of now that I picked up the new game (that I got with the extra credit from my PS3 trade-in when they adjusted it for me on Monday).

I did finally redeem some PUR points, though - got an Xbox Live messenger kit (headset and chat pad) for 21k or so in points. My son had wanted the pad for a while to write signs and stuff in Minecraft and I had, well, way more points than that that did me no good - so it was a win-win.

It is 4000 points and is available until Sunday but the coupon itself is valid until 10/21/12.

What would a slim Halo Reach Xbox 360 w/out hard drive get me? Is there some weird deal with that?

I called our local GameStop yesterday and got a trade-in quote of 22.00 for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron for Xbox 360.

Apparently, Mr. Universe swears it's 24.00. So I questioned myself and called GameStop again today, and again got $22.00 as a trade-in quote. There's no *regional* difference in trade quotes, is there?

Bought a PUR Pro membership, but this GS wouldn't give 30% preorder power trade on accessories (games only) so I went to another GS

2nd GameStop (took a print out of the offer on their website, no hassle):
Preordered COD Black Ops 2
PS3 DS3 wireless controller -- $27.50 base, PUR $2.75, 30% $8.25 = $38.50
X360 wireless controller -- $20 base, PUR $2, 30% $6 = $28
X360 play & charge kit (black) -- $8 base, PUR $0.80, 30% $2.40 = $11.20

$77.70 total credit - $59.99 game (no tax) = $17.71 balance transferred to card

Had another 360 charging cable, but neither GS would take just the charging cable by itself (both wanted a battery pack with it)

Overall pretty happy with the trade -- will wait til Black Friday to buy a slim 360 and super slim PS3

Well, for one I don't go to Walmart. I figured the cheapest keyboard I could get would be about $20-$30 anyway. I've considered it but then anything wired won't work - too long of a distance and that is just asking for trouble with the little ones. Actually, any keyboard is. They tend to destroy them .

It would be nice to hook up a keyboard for entering all those Borderlands 2 Shift codes though. In any case, my son wanted the chat pad and it was essentially free so I'm not complaining. I got a nice headset out of it that I can use too instead of the really old wired ones from my original 360 purchase.

Does anyone know the Apple device refurb fee? It does not state it in the OP.

actually mine was about 8 dollars i think so yea lol plus there is always amazon

and why the wal mart hate???

but i guess with little kids running around wired is an issue that makes sense. spend a little more to save the console unless its a gamecube or wii at which point let the kids drop it and the dog drool on it while its saving it will survive!!

Can anyone confirm that the tiered trade-in deal (Trade any 3 games and get an extra 10% in-store credit, trade any 5 for an extra 20% or 7 or more for an extra 30%) does not have a minimum TIV?

Thanks. I thought so, but a few different GS I called for quotes said $2 or more, which is usually reserve for the $10/$20/$30 promo.
