I just hate seeing some of the original members falling out. I think the few of us remain DO subscribe to the spirit of this league, and if he did apologize and did end up running out the clock, he did everything he could to try to "right" the situation.

This game can be horribly infuriating (especially for a sub-par player like myself), so I get the frustration. But, we have to put it all into perspective, too. It's a damn video game.

FYI: I am moving into a new house this weekend (as long as closing goes smoothly), so I will NOT have internet over the weekend. I hope to have Bright House out to hook everything up Monday, but whoever I play week five — I may not be available. I'm fine with you playing the CPU if we cannot connect.

He sent me voice messages that I told him I couldn't listen to because I didn't have my headset available. Also, I immediately paused the game after the pass and messaged him "uncalled for. i'm out". I didn't receive any voice messages until after that message, and after I had put my controller down to post in here. If I hadn't said anything, who knows what would have happened. My guess is another TD.

I'm not trying to kick anybody out. But if we're using the argument of someone being a "longtime member", isn't that a point for why he should especially know better? With two longtime members playing each other, that's the kind of stuff that you shouldn't even have to worry about. I'm just not buying into the "oops! I accidentally called a passing play" nonsense. If you don't know what you should do with a 21 point lead with 3 minutes left in the game, I just don't know what to say.

I think people are a little too sensitive about this. I'm all for the idea behind this league and everything but jeez give the guy a break.I personally don't care if people run up the score on me but I wouldn't do it to anyone else. And I certainly wouldn't get this upset about it.

You never told me you couldn't listen to them. You simply said NO HEADSET, then went on to say what a classless douche bag I was. You can listen to messages WITHOUT a headset and I thought you were saying NO HEADSET So I cant respond with voice. Here I thought you had listened to 4-5 15 second long voice messages with me actually explaining what happened. I thought you came into the forum with that KNOWLEDGE. COMING CLEAN BELOW. NEVER LIED OR INTENDED TO, and never tried to defend myself, just tried to explain myself which is why I sent the voice messages to you personally.

It was 1st down from the 20, though with everything I have been saying you should be able to ascertain that I wasn't paying to much attention obviously. I hardly ever call my own plays and rather audible from the line of scrimmage to what I have. GAMEFLOW CALLED A PASS PLAY. So i thought why not, however, the far left receiver, like I explained in the voice messages that I thought you listened to before you went off, was supposed to go on a short out route and when I noticed you pulled up your safety I was happy because I thought OK, quick catch, either tackle or go down, control the clock still. Like I said, while it was something I SHOULD HAVE AUDIBLE D INTO A RUN PLAY (lapse in judgment) but with gameflow doing it I thought it cant be terrible (as bad as this thread has blown up). THe play went off and rather than go on the out like I thought he went on a HIGH slant left, NO ONE WAS AROUND HIM because you pulled your DB down. He may have caught the ball about 30 yards down field and I went down about maybe 15 yards after the catch (again, my mistake and yes I got over zealous but immediately caught myself and dove at about the 25-20 yard line) It was a big play I admit, but definitely not something I did with intentions of BUTTHURTING N8 the way it did. He paused it and I knew what was coming as I was typing he sent me the message "uncalled for, Im out." so in the middle of my message I stopped and thought i need to actually get my headset on and tell him this. How can I have a chance to respond when immediately after the play he sends a fairly quick message like that, and honestly I was typing something out but got his first so I decided to be better explain via voice. BTW N8, it wasnt SPILLER in the backfield on that play, it was Forsett, who did have a touchdown but his carry isnt what I like to see on a OPP 20 with a blitz coming and 330 left in a game.

After he said, IM OUT, as I explained before...I WAS PLANNING TO MUFF 3 runs, because I did feel bad and couldnt take it back so what could I do to make it right? DIVE ON 3 runs as fast as possible (although I was sending the VM so i know the clock ran about 115 mins off) then I COMPLETELY MISSED THE FG with about 130 left on the clock, may have been a little less as I know he had the ball with over a minute left because I had to wait 10 for the game to actually run the clock down as he wasnt there.
He failed to mention that part, he had over a minute to get some "dignity" that I had taken from him back on that ONE play that nothing came of. It was just a long pass play....at the wrong time.

As I said, I didnt blame him for saying what he said about me, but at the same time I am a man and game or not, the ass was going and going and going....all the while I'm thinking he heard what I said over the 45-1 min of voice I sent him. TO call someone a classless DOUCHE and piece of shit since they have been here from the beginning with NO things like this AT ALL.....id say that is a little overboard.....I apologize for losing my cool and going off at the end but I will not be berated like that when I put myself up here, admitted I was wrong and did have a few facts MIXED up but I didn't 100% lie as you said. He could've/should've, but at this point it just didn't happen. I personally think it could have been handled a bit better, a public wrist slap and a warning that he would be kicked if anyone else complained would have been fine imo. Either way at this point the damage is done and we all need to move on.

Honestly it wasn't just about doc though. This is the 3rd or 4th time this has happened this season, and I think Nate is just sick of having to go over it again and again. It is one of the basic tenets of this league after all.

Whatever, man. Obviously, I'm not mad about it anymore (notice no more s). At the time, you were 100% deserving of the blow up you got. The "Chill, dude. It's just a game" argument doesn't work with me. I take time out of my day, time away from my family to run this league and to play this game with you guys. I don't expect to win every game. But I do expect to be respected and for the people in here to play with honor and class.

Over the past week, we've had multiple accusations against people for doing things that are not in the spirit in which this league was created. I've hammered home the point "play right" over and over. The rules are fairly specific. I spent a good amount of time writing them up. Some people don't even bother to read them (as evidenced by some of the questions that get asked). And when the most basic of principles in these rules just gets ignored, I had had enough.

The idea that you "weren't paying attention" to what was going on up by 21 with 3 minutes left in the game is just as preposterous. But I'm not even going to argue against that because that stands on its own. You "made a mistake". Ok, whatever. I guess it just blows my mind how I don't seem to have problems not being a dick to somebody in a game (say what you want about my behavior in the forums after the fact...but I remind you that that behavior was provoked). It's not something I have to "remind myself of" or "restrain myself from". So, when stuff like this happens, it just makes me question the mentality of the person involved.

The bickering that goes on in these forums is really a downer. I understand rules are there for a reason and need to be followed but the constant ranting back and forth every week about who did something suspect in a game just makes me lose interest in even participating in CAG leagues of any sort. This isn't even about who is wrong and who is right. It is about handling the problem like an adult and brushing off the pointless shit.

Who needs Jersey Shore when you have a CAG forum? When you are winning you don't care what happens, but when you are losing and frustrated you start looking for the slightest thing to call someone out on. We should have a 24 hour rule. Play your game, and after 24 hours you can bring up your complaint. But going to the forum .023 seconds after a game ends and starting a flame war just makes everyone involved look childish.

I've seen so many people complaining that when I play my games I find myself sifting through the playbook looking for a play that won't offend anyone. Or taking a sack when i could have easily ran for a first down simply because i had 4 receivers down the field and everyone's interpretation of the QB running rules vary. I just can't find a game fun to play when I am more concerned about not doing something in game to set someone off on the forum because they thought I should have kicked a 52 yard field goal instead of going for it on 4th down. I really hope all this crap comes to an end and we can just play some football like adults.

I never said running up the score was cool. But calling me douchebag is a great way to talk respectfully to other members of the league.

What I said was I didn't care if someone did that against me. I have three wins and have no complaints against me that I know of. But I guess I'm a douchebag.

Not even close to the same situation. With a 21 point lead with 3 minutes left in the game, would you pass the ball on 1st down? That was literally the only issue here. It wasn't about him running the ball all over me. It wasn't about when he scrambled with Schaub when I dropped 8 into coverage. All of that stuff was just "playing the game"...and I respected his skill in doing all of it.

I agree with you completely that having to intrepret when it's ok to do certain things isn't fun for anyone (ie. taking off with your QB when all receivers are blanketed, or using the same running play over and over again). Those are more "I don't know what defense I should be calling" issues. I don't like it when people come in and complain about those things...and I like it even less when people lie about what actually happened, because that gets us nowhere. But a "Whew...I got the ball back, and I can just grind out this clock and coast to victory" situation should be so blatantly obvious, it's stunning that this was even an issue.

But yeah, moving on from it. If Doc wants to quit over it, that's his business. It was a stupid playcall on his part, but I never had any intention of just outright kicking anyone out without a final warning. But as I said, enough is enough. These are basic rules...and they're not even demanding so much. This would easily have been categorized under the "play like a real coach" rule...without even needing any of the extra clarification and specific examples that are in the OP. It's BECAUSE of these things happening that we need the specific examples. "Play like a real coach" should be enough.

We're running a bit behind in the free agency department because of all this extraneous crap. So, I'm going to extend the deadline to 10/11 to make sure everyone gets a chance to grab a free agent before we advance. Considering there are a few empty teams, I wouldn't want the CPU to screw things up for the people who haven't gotten to pick yet if we just went ahead and advanced.
