Baseball is such a weird sport. I really feel like the Yankees - O's game took a turn when Joba took that bat off his elbow in the 12th. It's rare enough getting a broken bat hit like that...but then having 80% of the bat come rocketing at the pitcher? What a stroke of good fortune for Baltimore. The Yankee bullpen looked dominant up to that point (Joba included) too. Then when Phelps came in, it just seemed like a matter of time. I'm not a fan of pitchers who give up long flyball outs. Oh well. CC better have his good stuff on Friday...oh and it would be great if Cano and Granderson would stop trying to impersonate A-Rod too. I don't think Girardi has enough bats to pinch hit for everybody, lol. Crazy that all 4 LDS series are going the distance though.

I feel like that flying bat combined with nearly bleeding out on a trampoline is the universe's way of telling Joba that he should take it easy for a while.

I can not wait for 5 PM tonight. Simultaneously I'm not sure I can stand it. Games are too close. LOL. Go Orioles!

Really hope the O's and Nats win today. Would like to see some small market teams that have never won/haven't won in ages in the world series.

If both go down, I won't pay much attention to the rest of the playoffs. Guess I'd pull for the Tigers.

Yankees need to get their shit together offensively. They've only had one inning in the entire series where they scored more than 1 run. I've always believed you can't rely on the long ball in the playoffs and since the Yankees are inept with RISP, it's going to pose a big problem if they make it out of this series.

But I have a feeling they are going to lose today.

If they are going to win, Girardi benching A-Rod tonight is a good way to start.

Ballsy move by Girardi. The NY media will have a field day but that's inevitable. He's shown a lot of moxie the last 3 days. Let's go Yankees!

After the moves he's made the past two days, this was really the only play left. Considering what a headcase A-Rod is, whatever confidence he had left was probably destroyed by being pinch hit for twice when he represented the tying run, and being moved down in the order. He's an automatic out right now. Good for Girardi to say enough is enough. You're a professional ballplayer. Either nut up and act like one or just get out of here. Pro athletes aren't told that enough, honestly.

I am really pumped up for the Orioles game right now.

Yeah, Detriot!
Verlander was brilliant last night, total shutdown of the A's.
Bless you boys!

This year is going to be such a waste if it ends up Yankees vs Giants. If the Nasty Nats lose it tonight, I think I'll just tune out the rest of the season.

lolwut

Yankees had a ton of injuries this year but still managed to have the best record in the AL. Sabean actually made good moves during the trade deadline.

Touché, because a Giants v Yankees series would be quite compelling.

I'm a Yankee fan, and even I don't see them getting past Detroit. They always have trouble with the Tigers, and they can never hit Verlander for shit. I've been saying for years that you don't match up your ace with a pitcher as good as Verlander. I'd honestly prefer to have Hughes match up against Verlander (or even Kuroda). That way, if Verlander shits the bed, you have a good chance to win. But if he's on his A game, you weren't going to win anyway.

It does the Yankees no good for Sabathia to pitch 9 innings of 1 run ball if Verlander pitches a complete game shut out. And losing a Verlander pitched game 8-0 is no different. Sometimes you have to lose the battle to win the war, and the Yankees would be wise to bet on the rest of their staff being better than the rest of Detroit's. Just plan on Verlander's starts being losses and CC's starts being wins. And win the series in between.

The problem with starting CC in game 4 is that he would only start one game the entire series. Unless you bring him back on short rest for game 7 vs Verlander.

Yeah, wow...I didn't realize Game 1 was tomorrow already. That's freaking crazy. Good thing the Yanks don't have to travel, I guess. But yeah...I guess it almost forces you to put CC against Verlander in Game 3...although, I would consider holding him back and doing Game 4 and 7 depending on where the series sits at that point (ie. if the Yanks are up 2-0, I'd hold CC back and tell Hughes good luck in Game 3, lol). I just hope Pettitte can take care of business in Game 1. He's pitched great since coming back (but in my opinion, he always pitches better than people expect him to). I just hope he gets some damn run support this time.

Umps have been terrible this inning cardinals got away with a lot of strikes in the middle of the ing strike zone that got called balls that even the commentary had to point out. Game should have been over by now. Cards showing they're the luckiest team in baseball.
