Yep, I'd buy it now if there weren't other games I want coming out. Since there are, Mugen Souls will have to wait.

As you can see on their site, both the $99 figure set and the $65 LE still say 'less than 50%' of stock remaining. Both LEs have been at that level for weeks now. I usually buy NISA's LEs on release, but I cancelled mine and will buy this one down the line before they run out. If it doesn't sell out for a while, then I'm hoping they'll have a sale so I can grab it for cheaper.
Didn't the Atelier Meruru limited edition not sell out until the last day and then immediately start being sold for double price on Ebay?

It sold out maybe a week or two before release. While Meruru LE may not be double/triple the price right now, it most likely will never be its actual retail release price ever again (same with most of the others).

Mugen souls is not as good HDN or the Atelier series. I remain skeptical that scalpers will benefit greatly from this investment. Cheezy JRPG has a niche just right for this kind of market, but Mugen Souls is a niche within a niche with all the pedo related stuff.

I decided to pass as well, I barely even touched HDN and HDN2 yet, and I'm STILL sitting on Trinity Universe too lol. Plus the reviews and controversy are making me think this one might be a flop (Plus I have 0 hype ever since it was announced).

Might change my mind, but theres other stuff I see myself playing more.

I'm not at all surprised that something as niche as this got a bad score from them.

It could also, of course, be a shitty game. I would just need to hear that from somewhere else to believe it... lol
RPGamer gave it a 1 our of 5. Not sure how much I place my value of their opinion since I haven't even thought of that place since I used to frequent RPGFan and LunarNET back in 1999/2000 era.

IGN is notorious for giving people some of these niche games to review who are either: A. Not a fan of the genre or B. Who dislike anything that doesn't have superb graphics. In fact, it kind of reminds me of X-Play. Who would completely trash an RPG, just because it had sprites instead of "realistic" characters. I mean, it's no different than someone who only listens to Death or Epic Metal, to give them a country music CD to review and expect a fair review from it.

I haven't played Mugen Souls yet, NIS took the money out of my account for the $65 version already, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be the "Brutal Gaming Massacre" IGN made it out to be. I mean it could be god awful, but most of the NIS games I've played haven't been atrocious. Battle systems are usually funky, but for the most part they've been pretty decent. I'll find out whenever it gets here next week I suppose.

having read some of the mugen soul reviews it seems there are some valid complaints.

terrible loading, terrible framerate, a battle system that apparently gives little reason to peon people and use moves because the basic ones work fine and a late game difficulty spike....granted this game might not be IGN terrible but it probably isnt fantastic either....though i could be wrong. and i admit i would probably like this game more as i am an anime fan.

that said i think im waiting on this game this holiday season has entirely too many other things i know i am getting and will play immediately.

nope, but dont think that matters. Seems like some distribution centers just suck ass. I guess a lot here in California are garbage. Mine came from Vegas it seems. Im actually pissed. After calling Amazon they said they cant even guarantee the replacement wont be shipped out in the same package! Theres no way to change it at all... seriously? Thats ridiculously crappy customer service. I think ium pretty much done getting any special editions from Amazon ever again at this point

and @ those talking about IGN's review of Mugen Souls.. its possible the game is indeed crap but please dont rely on them for RPG reviews (real rpgs, not the latest Final fantasy or some crap like that) As mentioned they seem horribly biased against them. They always bash them for not changing enough or being stale.. then go ahead and give the next and latest madden or whatever generic FPS is out that month a friggin 9.0. I guess a turn based battle system is derivitive and stale, but the new gears of war game is totally new and fresh because it has 2 new enemy types to shoot! YAY! *eyeroll*

I don't think getting partial refunds/replacements actually goes through to the packaging department itself. You should (also) submit packaging feedback in the actual section for it http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...deId=200325950

^i live in cali too and had the same prob as him. packaging feedback doesn't help and neither does complaining. if you request a 2nd replacement they will say "it's going to be shipped the same way so I won't trouble you with a replacement, just return for refund"... I don't order from amazon anymore if it's something I'm worried about getting damaged

does anyone know when in 2013 HDN3 is coming out? beginning of year or later?

If you trust IGN for RPG reviews, you're doing it wrong.

This is a deal thread. Do not go off topic and stop the arguing.

The info shouldn't have been 'cleaned'. As long as no one is arguing over it, it's helpful to have. Why do you (the mod that keeps deleting everything) think this argument has popped up 3-4 times now? It's just going to be asked again, presented in a biased way again, and then the arguing will start again.

They've actually told you this? I've returned crushed boxes and sometimes the replacement gets shipped in a better container, and other times it's the same packaging but somehow doesn't get crushed. (I'm in IL, not CA, if that makes any difference.)

In incidents like this I always leave packaging feedback and do an exchange. This costs them money, and eventually someone will notice if enough people do it. I haven't had the same game get crushed twice yet, but if I do I'm going to keep doing exchanges until they get sick of me or finally get their act together.

Actually, eventually they will threaten to ban you from Amazon. I have received warnings twice and each time I simply threw it back at them explaining that I pay full retail when I buy collector's editions from them and I expect them to package things properly. I have even exchanged e-mails and spoken to management folks at Amazon and their position is basically that they can't customize packaging and that if I don't like their packaging, I can buy elsewhere. If something arrives damaged once, it very rarely is shipped properly the second time since as I said, regardless of feedback or issues, they won't change how they package items. The only time I have seen a change is if an item goes under review because of many complaints in which case sometimes they change the designated shipping packaging. That almost never happens unfortunately, and it's worthless when an item is sold out.

A bigger problem for me recently has been that Amazon is damaging stuff before it even gets into the packaging. I have received perfect boxed items that have tears and poke holes through the case and insert indicating that they were damaged before they even shipped out. I even got one CE recently that had some type of food residue stuck to the box (it smelled like bananas).

I ended up getting a perfect sealed copy of Code of Princess at Gamestop this weekend. All of my CE/LE preorders have been switched over as at least I get to see what I'm getting before I buy and I can stop making trips to UPS and the post office to drop off the damaged garbage Amazon has been sending me on a regular basis.

Amazon has always been hit or miss with me as far as shipping quality is concerned. I've learned to never order say books (I read graphic novels) or games in large quantities from them because they will try and over stuff all of your order into one box with little or no packing foam. Almost always a sure fire way to get your stuff jacked up.

I've never had an issue with them when only ordering one title though.
