The codes are actually for 1 Month of PS+, they give you 2 codes per account. You download the beta once you're a PS+ member.

Both codes showed up for me as "1-month PS+ trial (3-month Subscription)" which means that it adds access to (or extends existing subscription period by) one month of the service and will turn on both automatic renewal and automatic funding, both of which can be turned off in a few steps from Account Management.

I'm assuming it's to promote the ASBR beta because that is one of this week's 'free' offerings for PS+. edit: yup, you nailed it.

Yeah, I just bumped my membership from Dec. 2013 to Feb 2014 .

I don't like that it puts the auto-renewal via CC thing on there but I guess I can always turn that off. I have always funded my PS+ with cards or direct PSN wallet purchases (never credit card) but I think I have one in there anyway (because it was required). As long as they never charge me (which shouldn't happen because I will always renew it well in advance) then that's fine.

Thanks much. I could care less if they have my CC i turn off autorenew so not liable. It will be a minor headache of me getting a new card in 7-10 days. I wouldn't chance it with a debit card though. Think some people just worry about it too much. I've had a card number stolen before and before and it was easy to clear up with Chase. They just sent me a form to fill out and send back and that was the end of it.

Well, I'm happy.
