Obviously someone wants the Wii U.

An excellent launch. Congrats to Nintendo.

It's good to see the supply is there for those who really want one, but after the new year you won't be able to give these away. NO GAMES AT ALL NEXT YEAR(Exept Pikmin 3).
There will not be no games at all, but will there be enough games that you can't get on the other consoles (for most likely a lower price and with achievements/trophies) to justify the purchase is the question?

Nintendo games are always slow to come out, I think most of us here know that, and buy accordingly. But most people are buying this for the Nintendo published games, not the 3rd party stuff, which is cheaper and better on the other consoles. I am not buying Nintendo anymore because I have bought into their false promises and hype one too many times and I have been seasoned. If I do buy Nintendo again it will be an after-lifecycle or close to end of lifecycle purchase.

Learned my lesson with the 3DS, didn't buy one at launch, price tanked a couple months after launch, still no games out I want to play on it 2 years later (that doesn't mean there aren't games out for it, there are clearly plenty, but are there any games I want to play..... no there aren't). Thank god I didn't buy one at launch.

Many 3rd party games are also being released for the 3DS and the DS simultaneously.

Now IF and this is a big IF they had a killer Pokemon MMORPG at launch you can bet that I would have happily handed over $350 plus cost of game for this system and probably would have been very happy with my purchase. Same with the 3DS, no Pokemon RPG = No sale.

What really gets me about this system is Nintendo STILL doesn't have a dedicated account system, and they STILL require you to exchange names with your friend, then your friend has to input your name in order to register you. Not to mention they want you to hand over $60 for DLC that is tied to your system, if your system breaks goodbye DLC. They do not allow you to input a friend's name then send a message to your friend so they can register you. You both still have to input each other's names and register separately. Dear Nintendo, I am an adult and I really don't need these types of protections, that is why I have gone to the other side.

That and Nintendo's serious lack of support with Pokemon games for the Wii and 3DS is very disturbing. The Gamecube was the system to have if you wanted to play Pokemon games, because the ones they have for the Gamecube are actually good.

It's good (imho) that the shelves are full of Wii U's. Retailers will take them and this ensures a steady amount for January when everyone gets their gift cards. the hoarders, unless that is legitimately their only job.

Drat. You mean the 10 I bought to resell are not going to fetch me $1,000 each???

I joke. But seriously though, I picked a Wii U up several weeks back and have yet to open it. I got it since I never bought a Wii way back when and wanted it mostly for backwards compatibility. Plus there's a couple Wii U games that look decent - and I'm sure some exclusives down the road will be awesome. I also heard the Virtual shop was neat, since it had Mario 64 and some of the classic games.

I'm still undecided if I'm going to keep it (I have a huge PS3 backlog that eats up my time). Though with the resale value being miniscule, I won't be throwing it up on eBay anytime soon. With my Bday coming up next week maybe I'll consider it an early Bday/Xmas present to myself.

Hopefully it continues to sell well as I'd like to see it get good 3rd party support.

I think a big part of this reseller frenzy is the media, I think too many people tried to capitalize on this but I'm glad Nintendo is making it more available especially for the Holiday season. Do you guys remember how hard it was to get a Wii Fit? As the poster above me mentioned I hope it does do well to get some great third party support and get some descent exclusives, I just hope Nintendo doesn't make it hard for these publishers to do so, I wouldn't want Nintendo to turn into Sega.

I am glad that I was able to flip mine and get a good $75 profit... I think this system is dead unless Nintendo decides to release a Pokemon RPG for it. Unless they do that, it is time for Nintendo to fold up their console hardware division, and start selling software just like Sega.

That was due to lack of sales and the price point, it was $250 right? I am an early adopter to most of this stuff so I don't mind paying a premium but we are all smart enough to know there will be a price drop in the future, just how far is the question.

If you want to wait or wait for a special edition system like buffdrew then go for it, no need to rush into it right now.

Actually this apparently is not true. If you go to the MiiVerse you can search for a username, click send Friend Request and then they just click Accept.

I also heard the 400k number for sales. The question is how many were sold as preorders to resellers and will be going back to stores. Might have been a supply issue on the older console launches.

BUT, the xbox 360 sold 750,000 consoles from Nov 18-23.

Ok, some other people were saying if you added someone they have to type it in in order to add you back but this is probably a much easier way.

The only reason the Wii didn't sell more is there was no supply, if they had the supply they could have moved a very large number.

If Pokemon B&W 2 was on the 3DS I would be a little more optimistic right now, but I think the thought of myself and everyone else is why buy a 3DS when the games we want are still being released on the DS? They really shot themselves in the foot on this one, as having this game as 3DS only would have caused a lot of people go out and purchase a 3DS that otherwise wouldn't have.

I haven't even heard rumblings of a full Pokemon RPG for the 3DS yet, which means it will be about 2 years from now before one hits the USA.

I wonder if priced on used Wii U models will be good in Jan/Feb when everyone has had their fun and realized they don't use the system so they start to sell off their systems? It was this way for the original DS, it was hard to get at first but priced tanked after Xmas when everyone realized there were no games for it, it took about 9-12 months for games to start coming for the first DS. If so this might be a good way for someone to get a barely used console a little bit cheaper.

If you buy this now you have to be prepared to keep it for life and let it sit and collect dust inbetween game releases, plus you have to be willing to pay $60 for each game day 1.

It would have been good idea to buy a Wii at launch if you could find one that its because you would have been able to play the games with your family over the holidays then you could have sold it used for probably a lot more than you paid for it, and still had your fun.

im reading/posting this on a wii u, its worth it, netflix is better then the 360 ps3 counterparts, miiverse is great, zombi U rocks unbeleivably, and its a good system... its bc so if you dont have a wii then its a wii + better graphics more functionality with the tablit etc. Only got 2 game so far but its worth it as an investment. and nextyear theres mh 3 ultimate, pikmin 3, bayonetta 2 i hope, and a few more probably. Dont knock it till u buy it, and this isnt fanboyism, i got a nintendo console for the first time since the old ds/gamecube before that, i have TWO 360's, one is a halo 4 bundle one... I dont need 20 mediocre launch titles, 2 great ones is fine, and ppl love ac3, nintendoland, and batman armored, but i dont have so speculation, quality over quantity...

How is buying a depreciating product an investment by any stretch of the imagination?
