im having to restart my game against the cowboys playing the computer, i only see sleect and waiting for him to show up or simulate by pressing x. do i press x to simulate then get an option to play cpu?

No. If you select "simulate", you won't be able to play the game. Did he tell you to play the CPU? What's the deal here?

we played the game, i was up 3-30 or so , had the ball with 3 minutes left, ran the ball to wind down the clock, kicked a field goal with about a minute left then i kicked it to him and it looked on my end like he put the controller down, he said that his wifi was messing up and that he had hoped that it would make it through, so i could play the cpu.

must have been over looked on there other page so i will ask again. when is it considered time to quit passing the ball once u have a lead. since its looked upon as being a dick when passing the ball when having the lead. but some teams such as the titans who run the ball alot having them be allowed to still run the ball isnt quite fair. why should i stop passing to get first downs when i have a big league when guys that can run the ball all day dont have to stop running the ball? if i have a big lead such as 21 one points or 14 points somewhere in that range in the fourth do i have to stop passing or it ok as long as i dont target the endzone?

My WiFi crapped out. Why would I put the control down with 1 minute to go when from the beginning of the fourth it was a blowout? Wouldn't make sense on my part.

My opinion is that if you are running it on first and second down and milking the play clock and then throwing to try to get a first down then I don't really have a problem with it. Like throwing an 8 yard pass on third and 6 to try to keep the ball.

But I think if you are up big you shouldn't really be throwing on first or second down. There also is really no reason to go deep with it at all.

i get what ur saying tower but that still lets them know wut ur doing engage 8 1st and 2nd down knowing that i have to run doesnt really make it to fair.
and as u know since we just played im not the type to run up the score at all and im sure anyone in the league knows im not for it either but giving people ability to know exactly wut ur doing isnt quite fair

Well, that's kind of where an "enforced logic" comes in. I feel like we have to restrict a lot of stuff so people don't "play like a video game", and actually use football logic. In real life, the reason for running the ball is to chew clock. Coaches don't risk a pass because it could either A) lead to a turnover or B) result in an incompletion which stops the clock. If you're up by 21 in the 4th quarter, you should be trying to do everything you can to keep that clock moving....and at that point, punting isn't the worst thing in the world should it happen.

I don't know why a lot of people seem to have trouble grasping it, but if you kill some clock with a 21 point lead in the 4th, and are forced to punt...and then your opponent comes down the field and scores a TD to cut your lead to 14...start running your offense again. The idea of chewing the clock doesn't mean that you have to let your opponent come back and tie the game or something.

Obviously, it starts to become a gray area, but to me, a comfortable lead is 3 scores. Two scores can happen pretty quickly (TD + onside kick). So, to me it wouldn't be reasonable to get upset at somebody for throwing the ball (on any down) with a 2 score lead. I guess the idea there is that you're still trying to score to put the game away. And with a 3 score lead...you're trying to preserve the lead and get the game over with (not saying you can't do that with less than a 3 score lead...you've just got a much smaller margin for error).

And as always...in the 3rd quarter, there is no expectation. The variable factor here is time. If there's time to come back, you should keep playing your game. But once you get to a comfortable spot in the 4th quarter where you can whittle down the clock and dictate the end of the game, that's all you should be trying to do.

so in others words 4th quarter lead is 14 its still ok to pass but anymore than 14 start running. thats fine by me i just wanted to know when the dick factor came into play and now i know so thank u

Well, within reason. It's still expected that if you can run the clock out, you do so. So, if there's less than 2 minutes left and your opponent has no time outs, obviously you shouldn't be passing the ball...regardless of the size of your lead.
