I would like to see a new indiegala (more 1c goodies) rather than this thing alà steamgifts.

They cant even acknowledge that handing out your email to random users can potentially cause security risks. They are absolutely positive that handing out my clean, fresh, unused anywhere else email to a russian has nothing to do with me being attacked by a russian ip not a day later.

Typical blame the user for their mistake.

So i sent them enough details about the attempted hacks to show it had something to do with one of their users (his username linked to his ip address, his steam account, my traceroutes, logs, his mac address etc).

They still denied it had anything to do with them. So i requested they remove my email from their list and close my account. They also deleted my forum threads and have basically swept this under the carpet.

They honestly dont care about the security flaws in their website and system.

Why on earth are they giving your email address if you're hosting the giveaway? Shouldn't it just be that you get the winner's address? Make no sense to give yours out.

I thought this too. Not only do they send your email, they also send you their steamID and them yours.

They make you send the CD Key via email as they have no in built system for delivery. They have no way to private message serials to people, so its either done through email or steam. A lot of users set their steam profile back private after initial set up so you cannot contact them in steam.

Hm. This makes me not want to bother with stuff like this again. I fear shit like this happening like you wouldn't believe.

I think i'll just stay away from places like steamgifts from now on.

Which provides your email. And links to your SteamID.

He's complaining about features that Galagivaways cribbed almost directly from Steamgifts, including the lack of built-in way to send keys.

edit: One thing that I do see different is that I can change my email address on Steamgifts. I can't on Galagiveaways. It's actually very tough to change your profile email address on Indiegala, too.

I've been using the galagiveaways website now for a while, and trust me, this is an absolutely terrible website, with poor mods, and an absolutely horrid community. The site will be dead soon enough. I think I should just stick with the trade section on this website. You can trust the users here, and you get what you want for a very fair price/deal. It's just not worth the hassle dealing with those idiots over there...

For what it's worth, I got a free copy of Streets of Moscow on GamersGate from some Russian dude without a hitch.
