If I had purchased a copy of RPG maker, I would have attempted to make a gigantic adventure inside joke with my friends as the leads.
Old 01-06-2013, 03:05 AM   #11123
So, is RPG Maker easy to use or is it one of those tools that basically goes against everything that you've learned?

About Witcher 2:

Not saying it wasn't good. I enjoyed the first 75% of the game. By the end of Act 2, I was pretty indifferent. The problem was, I don't know the lore enough. The decisions I made was about as meaningful as flipping a coin, which made the climax very insignificant for me. I think the only character other than the Witcher I actually about was Triss. I really liked the first half of the game though.

But I guess I'm just weird.

I don't really like TWD that much either. I finished episode 3 so far. It's ok, but it's so linear, and so slow. Didn't help that I guessed from the beginning of Chapter 2 most of what happens. And I keep hearing that's the best episode, which kills my enthusiasm for 4 and 5.

I'm starting to see what games make GOTY. Interactive movies.

That seems to be the case for this generation. Games like heavy rain, and TWD are becoming so popular and I don't see the allure in it one bit. Maybe I'm just old school and prefer the awesome game play and the generic saving the princess from the castle story lines.

/hugs elessar and Kirby. Down with interactive movies! Not a trend I like seeing in the gaming industry.

^^^
Alan Wake and Max Payne 1,2,3 are the exception right?

I'm old school and I still remember games like The 7th Guest, Night Trap, Phantasmagoria, etc. There have been plenty of interactive movie games in the past.

I'm curious if you played the first Witcher? The story of the Witcher 2 starts off not long after the events of the first game. Also I am only about half way through the second game but so far I enjoyed the setting/story of the first game more.

Sorry for the late reply but I kinda hit the sack right after posting. I've bought SR2 but I think I'll send a message to steam support and ask if they can remove it so I can one day buy it off steam and get the non-censored edition.

I'm new to this thread, and Steam in general. I've read the OP and still have some questions. How good of a computer do you need to play these games? I just saw on the Steam site that Amnesia is $5 and that sounds like an absolute steal. Also, do they take Paypal?

All computer games are different; it's not like they were all made by the same team or in the same year for the same hardware. You can read the system spec requirements on each game's store page.

Yes, Steam accepts PayPal.

Throat stab!" moments and still gives you a reason to attempt stealth whenever possible. The only real bonus to no detection (outside of personal satisfaction) is the achievement, and if you're going to do that one, you might as well go for the Blink Only one as well. So unless you're achievement hunting, I seriously advise choking out as many people as you can, and throat stabbing the few that you can't.

(Also, never forget to use possession, I can't tell you how many non-lethals I got because I could possess a dude and walk him out of my way... or into the clutches of a waiting ally...)

Thanks for this!

Mooby, it sounds like you weren't gaming during the first wave of interactive movies is the early CD-ROM era. Those were much cheesier, C-list actors bluescreened onto digital sets.

What kind of computer you need depends on the game. If you go to the game's steam page, scroll down a bit to see what you need to get the game running. Amnesia is not a high-demanding game really.

Yup paypal is accepted.

*edit* I'm slow

Anyone want to explain in small words how I could go about taking screenshots of games that don't work with F12 and somehow uploading them to Steam?

It's probably more work than I want. :P
Old 01-06-2013, 06:28 AM   #11137
If you missed it for $4 on ths steam winter sale, GG has Cherry Tree High Comedy Club for $2.72 (DRM-FREE).

Personally I was disappointed with the steam demo. 640x480 resolution, and nowhere near the charm of Persona 3 & 4. I'd been looking forward to this since Spring.

Well, having bought The Walking Dead via a CAG user for $9, this concludes my sale:

Saints Row The Third complete: € 7,50 via Steam Store
Dawn of War GOTY: $1 from a CAG
Duke Nukem Forever: $2 from a CAG (figured what the heck for 2 dolla)
Spec Ops: The Line: $3,50 from a CAG
The Walking Dead: $9 from a CAG
Darksiders: Traded my HiB 3 for someone's THQ bundle I missed

And that's it. Not too shabby for around $25

*edit* forgot I also bought Spec Ops

Press PrtScn on the keyboard - works better than F12. Then I guess save in mspaint and then upload? It's definitely more work than just using F12...

Well fair points for the res (but then again this is an indie game); but comparing it to Persona 3 & 4 is giving it no chance now is it

Persona is more of an RPG than a VN adventure like Cherry Tree; you probably should be looking at more into RPGs then (if you desire more of the action charm) or VNs (Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate come to mind; Muv-Luv as well)...

You could try changing the steam screenshot key to something other than F12. Steam - Settings - In-Game tab - Screenshot shortcut key.
