I haven't tried an invalid CC#, but I have tried using a valid US CC# with "1, London, UK" as the address and it has worked.

I did put in a bogus number and it did not take it. Oh well I appreciate the posters efforts.

Just enter a valid CC # and afterwards go into your account settings, there will be an option to remove the auto-renew option as well as an option to delete all of your CC information off the PS3. It's almost like you never use your own Credit Card.

That the information is not valid

It may be the address you're trying to enter. Try using a random UK address, it doesn't have to be completely real. The CC itself shouldn't matter... at least for me it didn't.

The address has to be connected to the credit card in some way or it won't work.

I know this because I tried getting the goty ed. of Borderlands back when it was on the PS Store for $15 and I tried using my moms cc and it kept saying the addresses didn't match the one I put in when I signed up for PSN.

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly I used my CC and my US address but I put UK instead of US when it asked, it went through. *shrug*

You can only use Mastercard if you're in the U.S. trying to access content in the U.K. store. You have to enter your U.S. information when setting the card as a payment method. I believe it only gives you the option for United Kingdom as your "Country," it shouldn't be an issue though as I've done it.
