Search Bar

This search bar is a powerful tool for navigating CAG. You can use it to find the lowest prices on games, trade-in values, search members, forum and blog topics, and much more.

After searching for a game title, click the icon to pop-up a window with pricing information.

After typing in what you are looking for, you can filter your results by clicking on one of the tabs that pops up from the top of the search bar.

Tips

Looking for a game on a specific platform? Type in the platform name with the title!
Example: guitar hero 360

You don't need to click a pop-up tab to filter results. Just type what you are looking for right into the search bar.
Example: gears of war prices
Example: ninjatown review

After battling with them on the phone for an hour last night, they finally agreed to re-instate my hosting if I agreed to remove the offending script. So now, every price history request will return "No Information is available."

I'm at a professional conference until Friday, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to set up something this weekend.
Wow that sucks. Sorry to hear that.

Here's my thoughts on the situation:

Why not just put a link up to that says "Click here to check pricing history on Steamgamesales.com". Since you can basically take any game's url of steampowered.com/app/<APP #>/ and change it to steamgamesales.com/app/<App #> and you have a direct link to the page on that specific game with pricing history.

It's only one more click and you actually get some more detailed info like the graph. To me that's more helpful than knowing something was $2.50 at one point. It doesn't tell me if that was a one off or if it goes that price at lot and thus will be likely to do so again.

Also it solves the whole currency thing because people can just set Steamgamesales.com to whatever their region is.

You can also do it with steamprices.com but there it's slightly trickier. It goes from steampowered.com/app/<APP #>/ and change it to steamprices.com/<region>/app/<App #>, so for the US it would be steamprices.com/us/app/<App #>. You could still do it but it would either default to US or you could maybe set something up in the settings so that people can specify their region.

Anyway, I think the link solves the issue of your plugin pulling in extra data and queries while still giving a convenience feature. It's still a lot easier for me to click a direct link on a page than to go to Steamgamesales.com and deal with their heinously slow search to find the specific game page I want or to manually type in the url.

I like it - also very easy to implement. I've got this set up this way now, but I'll probably still re-vamp it some this weekend for CURRENT prices. Anyway, thanks for the idea!

Glad to have the price information back!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job jshackles I like how it tells you the different sites. Wish you didn't have to click but that is just knit-picking on my part.

Been using this off and on since you posted in the Steam thread when you first started it. I like it a lot. I don't know when this started to happen before or after I updated to the newest version. But every time I go into the options the default color is set to black and when I click default it adds the actual default colors for each (own/wishlist) and when I click save to save it and just makes them black again. Any idea what is going on? Thanks again for a great tool too.

EDIT: I removed the extension and installed it again and same thing as well.

That's pretty weird. Do you only have it installed on one computer? The settings will sync from one Chrome browser to another, but updating them on the settings page *should* push your most recent settings to the "cloud". Do you have the latest version of Chrome installed?

Also, I have a few small updates for the extension - more are coming soon. Things have been a little crazy for me lately but hopefully that means I'll have a lot more free time coming up. Anyway, the Chrome extension has updated to version 2.2, which really just fixes a few bugs that several users have reported. The new version should be pushing out on Google's servers soon.

For the Firefox users, I've updated the extension to version 1.4 which adds the "Empty Cart" button on the checkout page. You can grab the latest extension here:

http://enhancedsteam.com/firefox/enhanced-steam.xpi

On a side note, Mozilla is really getting on my nerves. It's been almost 3 weeks, and the extension has yet to be reviewed and certified by them. I can't update the version on their plugin page until this happens, so for now the best place to get the latest features is using the link above. Unfortunately, that won't auto-update.

Yeah, I only have it installed on one PC and yes I'm on the most recent version of Chrome. Every time I go to the settings it shows the colors as black and when I hit default they switch to it but then when I click save they turn back to black lol.
Oh well

While not strictly related to the plugin, I think that it's interesting to note that some of the Sleeping Dogs DLC has a app ID number than during the Christmas sale.

Deep Undercover Pack was 215252, now 202193
Martial Arts Pack was 215250, now 202191
Square Enix Character Pack was 215257, now 216331

Would it be possible for ES to lengthen the search results to greater than 25 items? Even all of them?

Any news about porting all the Chrome features to the Firefox counterpart?

I remember reading about a feature that highlights games in your wishlist that you already own, I assume that hasn't been implemented in the firefox version yet?

Thanks for the extension by the way (especially the firefox version!)

Try this:

http://www.enhancedsteam.com/firefox/enhanced-steam.xpi

Steam's approval process supposedly takes up to 10 days, but it has been around 15 now with no approval. So until it get approved he can't update the Firefox add-on on the Firefox site.

Hmm, actually I did update to that version (1.4) shortly before my previous post. I take it then that it is supposed to highlight the owned games in my wishlist?

I'll try restarting firefox later and see if that makes any difference.

That's a pretty good idea! I'll check it out and see how feasible of a features it would be. I imagine it would be something like Steamgifts+ endless scrolling feature, where once you scroll to the bottom of the page it kicks off an ajax event to load the next page of results onto the same page.

Honestly, I haven't had much time lately to dig into the Firefox cross-domain scripting issue. It seems needlessly complicated (as someone who's done it successfully in Chrome) but I could just be missing something. I'm going to try to sit down some time this week and figure it out. Every feature that's missing in the Firefox version is the result of this not working as it should (or me doing something wrong lol)

Yeah sorry that hasn't been put into the Firefox version yet, for the reason mentioned above. Since your wishlist is on steamcommunity.com and it tries to pull data from steampowered.com (to see if you own it) that process fails. Again, I'm looking into it and hope to have it "cracked" soon!

I had the same thing happen to me for a while. I deleted my profile off another computer that I occasionally used and after reinstalling Chrome and ES it worked again.

Cool and thanks! Obviously it would be most useful during the big annual sales and large publisher dealies.

So I noticed that certain games like Rayman Origins are actually using the 3rd Party DRM field to clarify No 3rd Party DRM but Steam Enhanced is still flagging it as DRM.

I hadn't noticed this - but it's doing so because there is a keyword search for "3rd party DRM" that brings up a banner. If Steam starts listing this in all of their title pages, I may have to add an extra "Check to see if it says 'No 3rd party DRM' " routine to the code to account for those.

I can't seem to find an answer to my problem through Google/Steam so before I contact customer service I thought someone here might be able to help.

When using Steam through their browser site I no longer get a message that I own a game when I am on that game page. I'm not sure that this is related to Enhanced Steam as I have accessed my account through IE as well as Chrome with the extension disabled/uninstalled. All of my games still show under my profile and everything worked fine up until about a week ago.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

There isn't anything in the Enhanced Steam code that would hide this, and since (it sounds like) this is also happening in IE, I can say it's some sort of error on Steam's side of things. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to contact their support to try to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the response. I thought you might have a suggestion or two since you have become more familiar with their website workings while you developed your extension.

Of course I would have this problem during a time when your extension highlighting would be a huge help!
