Ted was like a love action episode of Family Guy but dirtier with a little bit of actual heart. Worth a watch.

This is also what does it for me. This is Rocky in the dumps like in the first movie. Every other movie has him being ok for the most part, even in Balboa. The acting was atrocious and unfortunately a movie of the time with all the hippity hop of the climax and cynicism. Honestly, I'd say that it had a much more compelling story than Balboa and the only difference is slightly better acting and much better composition of the scenes. Having a more intimate orchestral score really helps with Adrian's Theme and Mickey's Theme to sell the gravitas of the more emotional parts with Rocky reminiscing in the beginning, talking to Paulie in the alley, and a couple other scenes I forget at the moment. Most people loved his speech when he was lecturing his son about life hitting hard, but I thought it was hokey as all hell. Rocky Balboa captured some of the atmosphere of the original Rocky, but was missing some of what made it special. It was an ok way to end the series, but stopped a little short of recapturing the magic. |
