Anyone still playing? Thinking about going back for a bit, either free or paid.

I've been back semi-regularly since Season 7 came out. The new reputation stuff is interesting (although mostly grindy), and the redesigned STFs are actually manageable instead of being all-day affairs. They're pretty fun this way. (These changed a while ago but I just recently got into them.)

KingDox has done an incredible job of building up the starbase, but I believe he's left the fleet. (I can't blame him since grinding the starbase solo is pretty much impossible.)

I'm about to hop on to check out the 3 year event... gotta get that Ambassador! And yeah, ITDEFX, not a whole lot of reason to subscribe unless you're really hardcore into it.

So, I still only have a Cryptic account. I try to convert it to a PWE and it says my email address is already registered. Try to recover it, and it says there is no account associated with that email address. What the hell.

I don't know where you guys were hanging out but I could never find most of you when EastX was running the show. Is level 50 the cap still?

have they released any more actual content for this game yet? That DS9 featured episode series was released like a year ago...

Wonder how many cryptic points/zen/whatever I have now. Supposed to get some every month, haven't logged on since like last March. I saw that they devalued everyone's points by 25% a while back, and screwed around with the dilithium exchange too. Maybe I almost have enough to buy a uniform pack now lol.

Edit: looked it up. Yep. Not a single new featured episode series released since last february. That was a year ago.

wait what? Then what's season 7 they are promoting?

My modified defiant (with that remain crap on it) looks like it packs more of a punch than before.

Looks like Season 7 just has some more goals to grind for (reputation system) and small tweaks. I didn't see where they added any substantive mission content period in the last 12 months.

But I have not kept up with STO at all in the past 8-10 months. Maybe there was some new mission stuff released in the interim, but from what it looks like, Cryptic has somehow suckered players into both being totally responsible for creating their own mission content to play AND paying for the privilege to do so at the same time.

When they switched from Cryptic Points to Zen, all the sticker prices went up (because 100 Zen = $1.00, whereas 100 CPoints = $1.25) but they bumped up everyone's point balance as well. They didn't devalue anything.

Season 7 is mainly the New Romulus adventure zone and reputation system, which has a bunch of grindy progression missions but some story content as well. I forgot to mention in my earlier post that the STF/Omega stuff has its own reputation progression as well, which is great--you've probably heard horror stories about people playing hundreds of STFs to get the random drops needed to requisition elite equipment. With the Omega reputation system, now it's just a matter of earning enough marks.

Thanks Metaly, my main toon joined Redit's fleet. But I still have alts in CAG fleet.

Season 7 pretty much crushed the delithium market and starbase requirements really ramp up after tier 1.

The 3rd year anniversary does have one new story episodes. And its honestly one of the best episodes in the whole game. And it gives you a free ship from now until the 14th.

I say load up your STO client, play the mission then see if you still feel like playing. The rumor is season 8s will finally release the Romulans as playable. The devs say the update is so large they arn't even going to call it "season 8" and it will have a new name near its march release.

I just downloaded this game for the first time yesterday, I played past the first two missions as a Vulcan. Went to destroy some borg mines then landed on a planet.

I lost interest after about 30 minutes of play. Not sure why, just there was absolutely no one else to play with at the start of the game. It was a completely solo experience. I saw other ships around flying and destroying borg mines.

just seems like another grinding mmo. I joined to see what all the 3 year fuss stuff is about but with no one to play with, I'm kinda just bored and probably will uninstall. I'll give it a go over the weekend.

Sounds like you were just playing the tutorial that is only setup to teach you the controls. Just to let you know beyond the social hubs there are only a few "adventure zones" that you will see other players running around. You should see plenty of players while flying in space, but you won't really be interacting with them.

Most of the content is "episodes" that you usually run solo. Most can be played as a team but its up to you to find someone to play it with you.

Once you hit level cap there is much more team play and of course there is always PvP that is all other players. Just be aware this game is solo friendly until you hit level cap.
