I've been known to take out Lucia's Pendant and wear it a time or two. Sometimes it makes an interesting conversation starter. Depending if they made the string long enough, I might wear the one coming with the guide. It looks kinda nifty.

My wife wears the watch from Virtue's Last Reward all the time, and its amazing how many compliments she gets for it. Of course we stopped telling people it's from a game a while back due to it being too hard for most to comprehend.

If I wore a Virtue's Last Reward watch, I don't know of anyone I associate with who would even know what it is. They'd think I wore some cheap ass thrift store watch, and man that thing is flimsy.

Now if there was some type of really top end watch based off a video game like a Breitling or something, then that would be awesome.

This was listed at $12.99 previously, which means Amazon had the paperback confused with the hardback (probably) as we suspected.

Can somebody put in order the quality of the guide publishers from best to worst?

For example, Prima http://www.amazon.com/Mortal-Kombat-...dp/030789097X/, is clearly the worst (cheap newspaper-quality thin paper) and horrible writing and poor design layout, so naturally they would go at the bottom.

Thanks!

From personal experience, I'd rank them:

Future Press (Dark Souls, Portal 2, Deus Ex, etc)
Piggyback (Assassin's Creed series)
Brady Games
Prima

There are probably other publishers, but those are the four I can remember off the top of my head.

...Not to sound like a jerk, but when I suggested preordering that guide in the hopes of actually getting the CE guide, didn't you say that we would get the paperback, not the CE?

Now I wish I had just preordered it at $12.99...

Agreed, but I'd switch future press with piggyback. I think piggy back is the best, I love the artwork they include and the detailed vibrant pages. Like the uncharted 3 hardback, that was amazing to look at. I only have dark souls and Soul Calibur from future press and they are great books, but overall boring to look at haha.

I'm very much anticipating the MGR guide from piggyback.

I've been unimpressed with Future as well, but only because the walkthroughs they write are a mess. Dark Souls was a prime example how not to do a guide because it read like a choose your own adventure book, constantly flipping pages to get all the info on a single area. Less encyclopedia, more walkthrough Future. . .

Yeah, I went back and forth on Future Press and Piggyback. At the end of the day, they're both top notch because they do an excellent job with extra content (developer interviews, concept art, story discussions, etc). And they don't skimp on paper quality.

Speaking of Future Press, are they still in business? They haven't done anything since Kingdoms of Amalur. Seems like we would've heard about new titles by now.

I'll be the third person to say that Piggyback is better than Future Press. So the list should go like this

Piggyback
Future Press
Brady/Prima <----- 75% of the time, they're both equally bad

This is based on personal experience, but Piggyback's guides are prettier, better layouted, and their walkthroughs are pretty spot on.

From all the reviews, sounds like the game is lacking meat too.

Amazon listing says it has 320 pages. Is that correct?

Prima guides are usually poorly done...unless they're written by David S J Hodgson.
His books are head and shoulders above ANY other guides that I own.

That's the guy who did the Fallout guides, right? Those are excellent.
