^ as has been discussed here, Raid Redemption is actually based on a leaked Dredd script.

This is also what does it for me. This is Rocky in the dumps like in the first movie. Every other movie has him being ok for the most part, even in Balboa. The acting was atrocious and unfortunately a movie of the time with all the hippity hop of the climax and cynicism. Honestly, I'd say that it had a much more compelling story than Balboa and the only difference is slightly better acting and much better composition of the scenes. Having a more intimate orchestral score really helps with Adrian's Theme and Mickey's Theme to sell the gravitas of the more emotional parts with Rocky reminiscing in the beginning, talking to Paulie in the alley, and a couple other scenes I forget at the moment. Most people loved his speech when he was lecturing his son about life hitting hard, but I thought it was hokey as all hell. Rocky Balboa captured some of the atmosphere of the original Rocky, but was missing some of what made it special. It was an ok way to end the series, but stopped a little short of recapturing the magic.
It's sad that there will never be another Rocky movie. I sometimes think of how they could somehow make a new one with Rocky as the trainer or have his son become a boxer. That was something I disliked about Rocky Balboa is that his son was not a boxer.

I heard Dredd was in photography as the Raid was in pre-production, so yeah it could be linked to Dredd's leaked script.

I thought the action scenes were way better in The Raid Redemption than in Dredd (with one possible exception: the machine gun scene. I thought that part was actually pretty kick-ass

...but my movie is...

Seven Psychopaths

-wanted to go see this in theaters but didn't up going. But got this when it hit Redbox and I thought it was a good movie. Loved the premise and I love the interaction between Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell. And having Woody Harrelson as the "bad" guy was just the perfect addition.

...and I also loved that Woody's shih tzu is called Bonny and my shih tzu is called Bonnie. Might of loved the movie even more because of that

Chronicle was pretty damn good. Very imaginative and good suspense throughout. I typically hate shaky-cam movies but around the middle you forget and it's sort of freaky, like we're a voyeur. :O

Iron Sky. I was expecting a serious movie, not a comedy and was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely in the "so bad it's good" category. I loved the pure absurdity in it. Sarah Palin as president was the best She isn't .

Jeff Who Lives at Home - Surprisingly charming and although slow at times, it kept me entertained and interested throughout. The cast probably helped that quite a bit though.

Apartment 143 - I'm all for supernatural stories, but man did this suck. Too low budget for my taste and it just wasn't scary in the slightest.

The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 - I can't really decided whether I liked this or the first one better, but that's a tough call anyway because they were both fantastic. Under the Red Hood is still my favorite animated Batman movie, but these are right behind it. I love Michael Emerson as an actor, but I didn't really care for him voicing the Joker, even if it did kind of work. Good stuff.

Total Recall remake. I have read and heard that this remake was horrible and not worth watching. It's not as bad as people made it sound.

Battleship surprised me with creative creature/ship design and had a shockingly decent plot. For such a simple concept, they managed to keep me interested throughout the film but I'd never watch it again. Not worthy of high praise, but at least recommended as a rental.

Side Effects
Never even heard of this until 2 days ago and was surprised how good it was. Highly recommended if you like thrillers.

Flash Gordon. Freakin' awesome, with nice dashes of cheesy. If they ever make a remake, those art designers are going to have to try A LOT harder.

I really thought Sam Jones was at least 30 when he made this movie, especially with all those wrinkles on his forehead.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This movie is legit, even without nostalgia I think it holds up really, really well. ing turtle puppets from 22 years ago seriously look better than any shit that CG has done.

After watching Ted last night, I think I need to see Flash Gordon now.
