oh, i wasn't removing multi-platform games from his list... i just meant i was leaving off a lot of 'famous' games like PvZ, Walking Dead, etc. since those are givens. i put in ones like Stacking because i don't think they're as known.

ok, thanks. i remember that game. i really liked it back then, but will wait for some reviews to come in. i wasn't totally blown away by the trilogy, but they were decent.

Most of the good ones were mentioned but I would also consider Siren : Blood Curse if you don't mind playing a game that doesn't have trophies.

Critter Crunch -- casual
Dead Nation -- one of my favorite dual stick shooters.
Everyday Shooter -- another dual stick shooter, this one's quite original
The Last Guy -- wacky and fun, way better than you'd think
PixelJunk Monsters -- great tower defense that works well coop. wife loves it too.
Shatter -- terrific take on breakout. top notch.
Soldner-X/2 -- great schmup.
Super Stardust HD -- great dual stick shooter
Tokyo Jungle -- absolutely fantastic and original.

i'll also add:
counterstrike -- great if you love cs.
lumines - casual
gatling gears - dual stick
stacking - unique puzzle game
zen pinball
pinball arcade
comet crash - reverse tower defense
novastrike - dual stick, sort of.

leaving out some awesome games that i know are multiplatform.
Yeah I forgot to mention I already had a few like Wipeout, some of the PixelJunk games,Dead Nation, Flower, and Back to the Future.

Already have the Pinball games for the 360, but will probably buy then on PSN so I can have them on my Vita. Have Stacking on the 360 as well.

Any Metroidvania type exclusives?

So guys, I've never played any FF in my life. Nor know what it's about. All I know that it's turn based combat. Can anyone recommend one for a beginner in the series. Consensus seems to be FF7 from the sale would be the best. Anyone else back this? Thanks

That is where a lot of people started and that I recommend. X is also a good beginner series.

7 hasn't aged well and wouldn't be my recommendation, but seems you already made the purchase.

Arg, I grabbed one of those cheap PSP GO's, and now my Final Fantasy buying decisions have become even more complicated, lol.

It's not a space issue as i've downloaded the game two different times, but every time I install it i get error code 80029564 during the install and it never finishes. I've tried turning off the system and redownloading the game, is there anything i could try to get it to work?
Bumping this as i'm still having trouble, downloaded the game for a third time now and still having the same problem.

This is the game I wanted to play most on PS Plus

Simple. Get VI and Tactics. Throw VII in for good measure if you haven't played it.

edit: I looked up difference between gba and psx version of FFV. It looks like I'll pass on psn version and play my gba copy... Someday.

I can't speak specifically for it because I haven't played it yet, but Knytt Underground gives me a little bit of a Metroid-exploration feel. It's on sale this week (and I think next week too) for 40% off, so you may want to check it out. Here's a link where you can watch a video preview of a similar game from the same developer, and you can actually even download that game, called The Great Work, which is free.

Rochard is 2D puzzle-platformer that has a hint of "metroidvania", though I personally feel like the exploration in that game was very limited (we had this discussion a while back on this thread.)

Those are the only ones I can think of.

Pinball Arcade is straight up awesome on Vita. And it's cross buy if i remember it correctly, so you get it on your ps3 too.

I'm one of the many people that think VII isn't anywhere near the best in the series but it is a decent title. VI is usually the one I recommend to newcomers.

Google it since there are a number of potential solutions on there.

Got a few questions regarding Dissidia 012 Duodecim FF DLC costumes...

I couldn't find them in my Vita's PS Store but do see them listed in the webstore. The listings do show "PSP|Vita" but can anyone here confirm the said costumes do get downloaded directly to his/her Vita and work fine?

According to this FF Wikia page, FFIV: The Complete Collection has Cecil's DLC costume but does the PSN version of that game actually have it? Can anyone confirm its appearance on his/her Vita?

Curious to know the above before purchasing Duodecim.

Outland reminded me a lot of Metriod, open map, platforming and combat mixed, linear in the sense that you have to get to a certain point on the map to get your next upgrade to continue on the story.

It's not an exclusive though.

I had the Tifa pre-order DLC costume from Amazon & while I couldn't redownload it on my Vita directly from the history, I was able to do so via PS3 & then transferring, & it works fine, along with the free Warrior of Light costume & Aerith from when I had Prologus back when it came out. I'm not too sure on PC-to-Vita transfer, but I think you can. I'd suggest trying the free WoL costume just to make sure.

As for Cecil's DLC costume with FF4 CC (along with the Aya costume for Lightning that you got from The 3rd Birthday), from my understanding, those were retail bonuses only. I also see no mention of them on the PSN store.
