My Gold just ran out. When I click onto the link, it says: "This promotional offer is not available."

"Thank you for your interest in the promotion. Based on your current Xbox LIVE membership, the subscription offer that you are trying to access is not applicable at this time. Please click the “OK” button to see available subscription offers."

Just wait a little bit. It always does that if your gold expired recently. Just wait a hour or a half of a hour

Thanks for that info. I had to wait a little longer (a day or two), but my gold recently expired, so I was happy when your link worked today! Thank you, OP!

Mine expires the 2nd of March. Hope this lasts until then. Thanks for the heads up OP.

Is anyone else having this problem? I used this offer and immediately turned off auto-renewal like normal. However, when I go my Xbox Live Gold membership under "Account Management" on my console, it still says "Renewal: Monthly," "Renewal Price: $9.99," and "Payment: N/A." It usually says "Renewal: Off" and "Renewal Price: N/A."

This sucks. I think MS may try to renew me for $9.99 next month. When I go to the website, it already says that automatic renewal is off, so there's nothing else I can do there to change it.

Try making your account changes from the website as opposed to the console. If that doesn't work, call support and ask them to quickly disable auto-renewal.

That's just the thing. I did turn off auto-renewal on the website, immediately after I signed up for the deal. Then, when I checked on my console, the change didn't seem to be reflected. Now, there's nothing more I can do on the website because I already turned off auto-renewal there, and it says that it's turned off.

I guess I would have to call now to make sure that it actually gets turned off (or just cancel my Gold subscription outright), but I really don't feel like dealing with Microsoft customer service, especially having to explain that I signed up for a free month using a link someone else provided on the Internet. I may just wait and see what happens, and eat the $10 for one month if I have to. I've gotten so many months for $1 or less over the past year anyway that it still wouldn't come out to a bad deal overall.

Of course, I'd better be able to successfully turn off auto-renewal after that, because there's no way in hell I'm paying $10 a month for Gold more than one time.

That's weird; happened on a second account of mine, too.

I'm hoping it's just an error, but I do have an email that confirms my renewal as being cancelled, so hopefully I can point that out if I do get billed.

Yeah, I got that e-mail too. But I'm pretty sure they're going to bill us for a new monthly subscription anyway. When I log into the Microsoft billing website, it lists "Gold - 1 Month" twice under "current subscriptions." Then, when I click "view subscriptions" and "view history," it lists two different "Gold - 1 Month" subscriptions. The current one has the date I signed up as the "Purchase Date" and one month later as the "Expiration Date." However, the other one has the current one's "Expiration Date" as the "Purchase Date" and 12/20/9999 as the "Expiration Date!"

So, I'm assuming that when this free month expires, they are going to start me on a new, monthly plan that will apparently recur every month for the next eight millenia unless I turn off auto-renewal again.

I suppose it might just be an error and we really won't be renewed, but I doubt it. I'm pretty much counting on having to pay $9.99 next month.
