Was the fog the only problem with SH HD? I mostly didn't get it because they left The Room out, and I'm pretty much the one guy on the planet who liked that game.

SH:HD does not use the original source, but actually a super buggy beta build of the original game to "HD" it. The problems with the game are distractions, but not bad enough to ruin the experience of the game. If you were to purchase it, get the PS3 version as that is the only one that has been patched with better fixes. The x360 patch was so bad that they didn't release it :P So x360 users have a pretty buggy game but still playable.

Try to pay no more than $20 for the collection. Also avoid SH: Downpour. That game may have SH easter eggs, but it is far from an actual Silent Hill game. If there was no SH in the title, you would have never guessed it was one.
