I seriously doubt that you will be able to find a new one anywhere. I haven't seen them at any big retailer anymore, as I believe Microsoft has dis-continued making them. Your best bet may be to check on e-bay, or try and find a used one for the parts you need. Also, there are quite a few websites that deal with Mod-chips for the x-box that also sell the dvd drives, etc. for the do-it-yourself
repairs. I don't know about repair shops up by the Bay area as I'm from So.Calif.

Wow. I bought a new one from CC a few months ago when they had more than a few, but now all the stores in my area (in SoCal) are sold out as is the website. BB is the same. Good luck! (Might want to save up and get the 360, provided it's backward compatible with your games.)

You might want to check the store inventory search engine on Gamestop.com, bestbuy.com, circuitcity.com, etc etc. I seriously doubt it that in all the stores in California there are no new Xboxes in any store.

go through microsoft? YMMV

Mine died a few months ago too. I called MS, and they said the repair (its out of warranty) would be $80. I balked, and they lowered the price to $60. I balked again, and after a long pause to "talk to a superviser," they lowered it to $40. That includes shipping it back to you. But you need to pay to ship it to them. They were really pushing me to buy an extended warranty, but its not obligatory. I haven't done it yet, cuz I'm thinking about getting a 360, but its not a bad price for the repair, and it comes with a 90-day limited warranty regardless of whether you buy the extended. Just call 1-800-4my-xbox and keep holding out. I may do the repair just to be able to sell the thing - trade in value at GS is usually pretty good.

I'm in So Cal area, but I can try and help you fix it either way. It might be the hard drive or dvd rom, those are the two biggest problem starts for xbox 1s.

If you need to aim me its bigdiaz14.
