I had a problem with game prices at the Addison Ave Kmart, also.

One of the guys that works at the electronics section was really nice. I asked for help at the videogame case and he instantly grabbed his bar scan gun. I saw what I think was the only copy of Advanced Wars DS and Trace Memory. Trace Memory wasn't even in the system, so he sold it to me for the same price as Advance Wars ($9). Also got Psychonauts for Xbox, which I've been looking all over for (and waiting for a price drop). That scanned item not found, also. So he sold that to me for the same price as the Jade Empire that I was buying at the same time ($10). I saw Animal Crossing DS and Feel the Magic DS (only 1 left of each that I saw) during this first clearance pillaging but decided not to buy them.

The next day, I changed my mind and went back for them (if they still had them). Lucky for me, they still were there so I grabbed them. I think I may have been responsible for cleaning them out of a few of the most wanted DS clearance games. Sorry to all that went there after I was finished with it.

I had gone there during the su mmer and there was nothing. I went there in November and I noticed a lot of PSP games had marked down stickers, but they were still in the 20 dollar range. Were these still there? Nice finds on the games though.

Heheh, I guess that's why I couldn't find Advance Wars (for a friend) by calling today! But, yeah... I wouldn't have even known to call had you not reported finding/buying them in the first place, so thanks for reporting... and congrats on the find.

I only PSP game I was looking for was Darkstalkers but I didn't see it, so I can't really answer that for you. All the PSP games were either unmarked or had $39.99 price tags on them.

Hey fellow chitown homies. Anyone see any Jade Empire LE's around TRU's? I went to the one on Western by Lane Tech and they were picked clean.

Well, if anyone can still find a Donkey Konga (or 2, that is... DK2), please let me know. Need more drum-based games!

Sunday shopping trip

After skipping the mad rush to purchase (and pre-purchase) games at TRU last week, I decided to stop by where I could to find a few bargains where they might be had this afternoon.

First stop: the Circuit City on Elston. Initially tempted by the less-than-$40 Zelda for the Wii, I tore myself away (even with my Gamer Gift Card coupon) to grab the really cheap (and advertised) stuff I came for -- Space Channel 5 Special Edition for the PS2 for $4.99 and a Few Good Men on DVD for $3.99. Mission accomplished.

Next stop: the Toys "R" Us on Western. Went to see what diamonds in the rough might have been skipped over. Quickly found what might have been the store's last copy of $19.99 (regular-priced) Phoenix Wright for the DS, so, of course, I had to get it. The helpful sales associate also went in the back to see if they had Donkey Konga 2 (sorry, no go, but there are still a handful of DK1 bundle's still around for $20) and showed me the WarioWare Twisteds sitting in the bottom of the locked case behind the counter. I picked up one for myself and left the other two for other desperate CAGs out there.

Would've been nice to find another Advance Wars DS or Karaoke Revolution Party (the mic bundle would have been even better) for the PS2, but it wasn't meant to be. There were, however, a few KRP bundles for the Xbox, so my question becomes: "Does the bundled Xbox mic work with the PS2/3, meaning, is the Xbox version also USB?" Maybe I'll have to go back and pick this bad boy up if it is. For others still heading out there, there were a few Drill Dozers for the GBA left as well as multiple copies of Polarium for the DS, and Metal Gear Acid 2 and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth for the PSP. At least single copies of Point Blank and Lost Magic were there, too. DDR Extreme looked to still be in stock for the PS2, but there weren't any Castlevanias for the DS, folks.

All in all, I kept my spending down to just over $40 today. For my wallet's sake, I'm glad I managed to practice a little restraint. If anyone out there's willing to part with a Donkey Konga 2, however, I think I can head out there one more time tomorrow.

Hope you don't mind me sharin',
Dan

Wow. the TRU on Western had Twisted? It must have been hidden underneath some other games....When I first did all my shopping during these clearances, I wasn't looking for that game. But now that I read on CAG that everyone is looking for it, I kinda want one now.

But I'll have to go to another TRU since you hit the Western Ave one. Guess I'll go to the one with the $19.98 Enchanted Arms and see if it's still that price, also. TRU open on New Year's Day?

Oh, and Happy New Year everyone!!!!!

Good stuff! I was at a friends house last night. Around 1030 a house was on fire across the street(you could only see smoke) but there was like 8 firetrucks, bunchof cops, and 2-3 ambulances on the scene.

then later in the night I heard a loud crash outside. I ran out, turns out a parked car got rammed from the back and the guy who did it drove off. Crazy stuff.

Anyone looking for a bundleless PS3? I just came back from Wal-Mart at North Ave. and Grand Ave., and they had about 6 PS3's in the glass case. I think 4 were 60 GB, and 2 were 20 GB as of 4:45 pm.

Just to clarify what I said earlier, no one else bought the other two Twisteds while I was there Sunday; what I meant to say was that I left them unbought for other CAGs in the area who might want 'em later. Maybe try calling the store now and see if they're still in stock (in the case)? Low chance, I know, but maybe...?

Oh, and thanks for the PS3 stock report, chicagoz. Some CAGs might be interested in picking up the bundles tonight. (Though not me right now.) Happy New Year, everyone!

I managed to get a copy of X-men Legends at the Toys R Us outside Orland Square.

Oh, most of their games have been cleaned out, but they still had TONS of Samurai Warriors when I was last there. Not sure if they got bought this weekend though.

I went to the Western Ave TRU and low-and-behold, they still had the two Warioware Twisted there in the case! I was going to buy both of them, but since you didn't let greed take over, I decided to do the same. There's one Twisted left at the store as of 5:40 pm today (Tuesday). Also picked up a Kameo strategy guide there for .01 cents. They still had Quake 4 and Black guides there for .01 cents if anyone's interested in picking those up.

I also hit the Milwaukee Ave. TRU again to pick up another copy of Enchanted Arms for another CAG. They still had about 3 left for $19.98 each. I picked up 2 Rub Rabbits for $9.98 each. They have about 3 left of that title, as well. One was hidden behind a different DS game, tho. They also have 1 Tower SP and a couple Sigma Star Saga , too.

I totally respect your restraint in leaving some WarioWare for others, chicagoz; it helps me believe that local-area CAGs still look out for one another.

While I might be done in the game-buying department for a few weeks (I hope!), it's nice to know that $20 360 games are still around -- even if they are of the price-glitch variety. I should hold off on buying Rub Rabbits unless I actually finish Feel the Magic, but that pennied Black strategy guide does sound tempting... especially as I just bought -- and received -- the game for ten dollars from Circuit City(.com)! Thanks for the heads-up, man... and I hope someone who could use those games gets 'em.

Thanks for the good words, dpac.

I also had some bad luck today. While I was at the Milwaukee Ave. TRU I tried to get a Kameo and Gran Turismo 4 guide that were both pennied out but the supervisor was working the department by herself. I kept waiting for her to get replaced or go on break, etc. so I can get the guides. After waiting for so long, I had to go for it. I asked for price checks on them. As soon as she saw that they rung up for .01 cents, she immediately said she couldn't sell them and had to pull them all from the shelf :(

I guess you have to get the peeny guides with just regular workers running the registers...or even better, no where near the department.

If you don't see any penny guides at that location, it's my fault. Sorry.

No problem, dude... getting penny guides is never a sure thing, anyway, so it's always a pleasant surprise when I manage to snag one. It's just helpful to know where *not* to look for certain guides in the future. Thanks for the info, though, regardless.
