Blu-ray Target Blu-Ray AS IS

(yay my first thread).

Couldn't find any info on here about this, and I'm not sure if this was an isolated incident, but I stopped by Target on my way home (The one in Lemon Grove, CA) and found Blu-ray copies (Marked AS-IS but still in the shrink wrap) of Disturbia for $8.76 and Saw IV for $7.46. The cashier told me they had a copy of The Game Plan for the same price but must have sold it. I'm going to try and check more Targets tomorrow.

Yea, not isolated but rare. I have found several BR and HD DVDs in the past at different Targets at the $7.xx price point.

Welcome to GAC!!

Yeah, I've never seen Blu Ray like that, but I have seen other electronics with the "AS IS" pricing. It just means someone returned the item in working condition, but it was opened so they couldn't just put it back on the shelf.

I returned a copy of max payne still sealed and the guy at the register opened it up in front of me(he took the plastic of the front but the sides where still covered). Might go back tomorrow and look for it. Where do they usually place these?

I actually work at a Target, and used to be in charge of the entertainment department. Generally speaking, if you find a DVD/BR/CD/Game or whatever still in the shrink wrap but marked as is, it means it is coming up "not on file". This basically means that it was sent to the store by mistake and isn't actually in the store's system. The way the store still sells the merchandise is they mark it "as is" which automatically drops the price drastically based on the original price of the item. Other ways items get marked AS IS, is that they were bought online and returned to the store and the item is only sold on the website, the item was opened and the store thinks they can still make money off of it, or the item was a floor model.

To any fellow CAGs who happen to stumble across one of these, do not hesitate to pick it up because its AS IS, it still has the same return policy as regular clearance. These are great deals. When I was the entertainment specialist at my store back in the days of HD-DVD, we got sent 2001: A Space Odyssey as well as The Frighteners, which we never carried. I snagged both for under 15 dollars (Mind you this is when they were still going for about 30).

Another little helpful hint for finding good AS IS deals is to look right after store inventory. Every year during inventory we find stuff that has been lost in the back and is no longer on file. Last year I got a 250 GB hard drive for 20 dollars brand new. All stores have inventory at different times but most should take place around the end of Feb./beginning of March.

Hopefully this helped and happy hunting!

I have bought several new/still in shrink BR's as-is from Target. Although, my are also orange and white tagged "all sales final" to prevent returns, sometimes they mar the barcode- sometimes they just put a tamper sticker over it. Still, I have never had a problem with any of them.

Sweet, probably won't see this deal here though.

This would be beautiful with the 5 dollar off Blu Ray coupon I have. Haven't seen any as-is Blu Ray, just HD DVDs (actually saw two HD DVDs pop up tonight, but I already had them ><)

The only time I ever saw an open-item Blu-Ray was months ago.

It was a copy of No Reservations for like $24. I need to start checking again.

Where are they located? The one I saw was where the clearance video games usually are

Picked up Frisky Dingo Season 2 here in AZ marked $2.49 AS IS. Had almost bought it for 15 at Best Buy a couple of days before but glad I had waited.

The generally get thrown on a clearance endcap in the electronics deptartment.

Also, this isn't something you can count on constantly. Its sort of a "right place at the right time" kinda deal.
