$169.99 = £118.35

So where the hell die Nintendo get £150 for a DSi in the UK from?

They're just totally ripping us off because they know they can. They know it's going to sell a TONNE.

Oh not too keen on the blue either.

Your numbers arent accounting for VAT.

$169.99 +%15 ~ $195.50

$195.50 = £136.65

So you are getting a markup, but its about half of what you are thinking.

Pretty much. The price in the U.S. doesn't include taxes.

I plan to get a DSi down the road, because I really need to get a new DS one day. But right now I have to sell my old non-Lite DS somehow.

Its the same plastic.

The blue is actually growing on me, I think I'll preorder that particular color.

I'm tempted to pre-order one.

The useless features are making me want it.

I find it odd that this video has a song for Rhythm Tengoku for DSi Sound, not Rhythm Heaven.

There are a lot of expenses in getting a product on the shelves in the UK and most of the EU that are much lower for US products. The current administration is looking to fix that.

So apparently something I've been wanting about the DSi has apparently turned out to be true. It would seem the DSi is a bit more of a viable and competent music player. Slightly. Check this: http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/...nintendo-ds-i/

The DSi also supports playback of music files off of the SD card and will play these songs back even if you close the system, as long as headphones are plugged in.
Brilliant. Just like a PSP. Since the headphone jack actually has the mic port there, I wonder if Nintendo can actually create a small remote to control playback, just like an iPod?

The WarioWare DSiWare game is called WarioWare Snapped.

IIRC, though, it only plays AAC files, no MP3.

Yeah, there's still that caveat. I'm willing to deal with that. I'm hopeful for a firmware update to play MP3s though.

The regular DS continues to play music when you close it as long as you have headphones plugged in.

It's safe to say that it won't happen. MP3 is a proprietary format, with licensing fees and the like. AAC has no licensing costs and is a superior format to MP3 from a technical perspective, and conversion only takes a few seconds per song.

So what bitrate would I use when converting?

128 or 256. When I rerip my CDs I'm going to opt for 256, that is the bitrate for songs coming from iTunes Plus.

I'm tempted to keep two libraries, one ripped with a losses codec and one at 256 AAC, but I honestly cant tell the difference as it is.

I mean, from other MP3s. Yeah, I know, I'm going to take a hit. Say it anyway. Or should I go for a "lossless" encoding?
