This game has gotten a 55 on Metacritic based on reviews. However, user ratings are 8.1 (25 votes).

EDIT: Upon reading countless reviews, it seems as though this game could have great potential if some bugs/glitches were fixed. According to several reviews, the gameplay experience is lacking, however the story is great. I found these two reviews to pretty much some everything up, besides the glitches -- which some reviewers say is pretty bad.

Rise of the Argonauts is not a terrible game, and in some respects is quite enjoyable, especially in regards to its story. However, the low production values in the gameplay and graphics department, does mean that you’ll possibly find enjoyment is severely hindered and your patience somewhat tested. MS Xbox World

Innovation in Rise of Argonauts goes in the wrong direction. Although the story is not bad and the epic and mythic world remains interesting, it's gameplay mechanics and technical flaws make the game boring and uninteresting. 3DJuegos

All in all, is it worth a $20 purchase? Probably not. At $10-15, it is probably worth a purchase. I'm not saying that CheapyD posted a bad deal, since it still retails for $60 on Amazon (released December 16, 2008), but it it will probably be a bargain bin game soon. If you have the money for it now for $20, I guess feel free to bite!

The game is more an interactive movie more than a game. Most of the gameplay is at the end of the game, but the gameplay is fun and the story is quite good is you like Greek mythology. Recommended at 20. If it was more I would say no, but I would have bought it if I hadn't passed it already.

Its an action game with some light rpg elements. If you like a good story, with some good action (although not enough action as more than half the game is spent just seeing the story), I would say its a good solid buy.
