They'll send you the real card in the mail...but for now you can just do that and still get in on the deal.
Thanks for the info but if I wanted to pick up the games from the store on the 10th (mw2 release date), I would bring the temporary card with me and present it to the cashier when I'm making my purchases?

I pmed a deal like this at bb for batman aa. they checked the time and everything and then I got my gc. I went to bb cuz all the people got the deal at tru during their lunch break. I learned my lesson so I preordered mw2 at tru 2weeks ago hoping a gc deal would come through. Edit: do they carry the holiday book with the coupon in the store. I got a crappy one with no coupon in it.

It'd doubtful they'll have it in store (at least the clerk I spoke with said so), but they have the Hardened Edition online.

Are they only giving a certain amount of gift cards away? Or can anyone get in on this deal before the 14th?

When I go there without my son, I feel like the old man from Family Guy.

I'm sticking with amazon's $20 - since I work normal hours I can't get to a toys r us at those early hours and they're lately always sold out anyway..

$59.99 initial purchase gets you $20 GC

The next $59.99 purchase you pay $39.99 and get another $20 GC.

Amazon just hasn't met that with consistency the way TRU has over the past several months.

Add into that $5 extra deals for preorders and special GC offers like the week Arkham Asylum hit where people received $30 GC's and you have some pretty sweet deals when it comes to paying for brand new releases. All it takes it buying the first one outright.

If and when Amazon does match those prices, it's never the week of release.

Amazon does still have sweet ass deals(Adding in those 10% coupons before they went tits up from ECA was nice, and specials like the $40 credit for $80 purchase.), and with a little effort, you can get CLOSE to the equivalent of $20 off, but you still have the timespan to wait for shipping and it's almost never on release day.

It feels like a fanboy war here with Sony and Xbox fans duking it out.

Spose im just sayin whomever I can get it from cheaper gets my buck. And the more they fight over who can go lower, the more I win.

Yep.
Just print it out and take the paper with you.

If it doesnt prompt you to print a temp card right after you sign up, simply go back to the toysrus website, click the rewards R us tab on the top, log in, and click on the tab that says "print/request card" (or something similar) and print it there.

im gonna pick up 2 copies of MW2, ideally during 10-2 on tuesday. im wondering what the gc total will come out to... easy answer would be 2x $20. but i wonder if the buy MW2 and one more game will make at least one of the gc to $30 and keep the other at $20. gonna have to try this, hopefully it works

I was waiting for a TRU deal since I have over $30 credit. Definitely getting this. Now to decide on the platform...

I may see if BB can price match this. I'm planning on going to BB at the midnight sale and bring the TRU ad with me. I don't think TRU stores are getting the Hardened Edition and if BB can PM the deal (like my local store boasts that they can do), that would be great.

Nice. I've got a $25 TRU giftcard to use on this from Scribblenauts/Mario & Luigi, and a $10 off coupon for a purchase over $100 from a flyer mailing, so I'm thinking MW2 plus Dragon Age equals $35 off plus another $30 in GC. I've also seen that $10 GC for a purchase over $75 coupon, and it would be completely nuts if that stacked to boot.

Already preordered MW2 on Amazon, but I love seeing TRU continue to offer GCs with big new release games. There are plenty of games coming next year that I'm hoping will get this treatment as well.

That $10 GC might be enough to get me to go pick up GTA Episodes, though.

As long as you give them the coupons at the same time as you give them the games it should stack. I know at my local TRU they let me use as many coupons as I can get to work as long as I hand them to them at the same time. That way the know how and in which order to use them, I think sometimes the coupons that give you the free gift cards need to be put in first before the general discount coupons or something like that.

Are you kidding? It's the sequel to ing Modern Warfare for christ sakes. I can guarantee if you haven't preordered or planned to buy early along with the rest of America the likelihood of finding a copy within the first week of its release has been drastically reduced from slim to nearly impossible.

This is one of the few titles I wouldn't think twice about buying as early as humanly possible due to demand alone.

There will be plenty of copies to go around.
