Most star wars games are good, except for obi-wan, and that fighting one. Kotor 2 is in the works. It'll be shown at E3, and featured in the next EGM.

As of right now it doesn't seem like they are releasing the originals, which of course is unfortunate.

For some reason, some people think that widescreen edition dvd's can only be viewed on widescreen TV's.

I actually like the widescreen's silver box better than the gold. I can't believe I have to wait until the end of September to get it. I have the original VHS lying around somwhere...

why is everyone so against the special editions? ive seen both versions, and its not like et where spielburg took out guns or anything major like that, he added a few scenes that flesh out the story.

im gonna pre-order this too. BB has it for 45 w/ free shipping, so i may get it there or amazon.

I don't mind the SE. I just felt that some of the stuff they added was unnecessary. However, they did clean up a lot of the shots, like you can't see the screens around the TIE fighters, and the Death Star explosion is much bigger. I'm an old-school fan (as I'm sure are many others), but I only like episodes 4-6. I thought they should've been left untouched.

But you're right Sneaky, they aren't that bad. I just liked them "as is". It reflected the time period, gave it a very unique feel to it. But they're still the same movies. I still preordered the set from Amazon, because I've been waiting for a long time for these to come onto DVD.

From what I've read, it sounds like the movies will be a "better" version of the Special Edition films. Lucas has made a few changes that have already hit the internet - the video of the Emperor as a hologram, for example, is now actually Ian McDonald instead of the no-name actor it was before.

We'll see...still, does it really matter? The majority of the films has been left unchanged, and we won't be getting the original versions on DVD for a long time, if at all.

Eh. They should just include full screen, wide screen, original, and SE editions on a super collection to make everyone happy.

But wait - they'd lose money! Bad idea!

Some notable changes include:

Greedo no longer will shoot first in IV

They will be redoing the CG, i.e the scene with Han walking with Jabba at the spaceport will not look lame and out of place anymore.

They are fixing the Greedo thing back so Han shoots first (according to IGN) and I can agree with changing the part with Han walking with the fat guy as it is much better

as i said earlier, i'm not really into star wars, but i know some people that are, and they are pissed because the original versions are not being made available, and i can understand that. i don't care if the special editions are released, and i don't think they do either, but making it so those are the only versions available is unfair to the fans of the series. i'm not sure what the big difference is, but i can say that people want the original versions, so why not just give the people what they want? then just release the special editions seperately, or throw them in the same box, but still make the originals available. it's like denying that the ever existed.

Never understood why he changed it in the 1st place.

Thats changing the way the film was when it was originally released and I never liked that. IMO

The furor over that was that, in having Han shoot after Greedo, it became an act of Han acting in self-defense. But the original scene, with Han shooting first, is a display of his rough nature as an outlaw. The reason that Lucas changed it for the SE was so that Han would seem more like a "good guy." That's the furor. Blah. I really doubt that I'll buy the SEs on DVD. I'll wait for the originals. And the SE Death Star explosion was lame.

In that case, be prepared to wait for the rest of your life...

Lucas has declared that the special editions ARE the movies. As long as he's alive (and probably for quite some time after, if his wishes are respected), we'll NEVER see the original versions again. Ever.

It's not going to happen. You want Star Wars on DVD? This is it.

I hate Lucas. He's either delusional or has the biggest ego in the world. Probably a little of both. I don't care what his vision of the film is. He should just rerelease the originals, but oh well.

Does it concern anyone that BigNick breaks his purchases down into hours of entertainment. I hope he isn't that way with his ladies.

Finally, I hate widescreen and always will. I've never been so mad as the time I accidently bought full-screen. The industry never should have caved and made full-screen to begin with. Those stupid rednecks and their 13" tv complaining about how the bars cut off the picture.

BTW, I will be preordering and I'm probably still driving to Indianapolis for the next Star Wars celebration, but I don't have to be happy about it.

Cause a lot of the effects were poorly done and some of the added scenes are plain stupid like where greedo shoots first. And it is not just the fact he shoots first, but the fact that it is poorly done - greedo is holding a gun 3 feet from his head and Han is still able to dodge. WTF? That is pure stupidity and never should have been added to the movie.

And Lucas seems to be smartening up a bit since he has been making some decisions to appease fans ie the early release of the OT on dvd, etc. So maybe we will get the originals or a better edited version of the SE (han shoots first, luke doesn't scream).

I remember hearing about that, but I wasnt sure so I didnt want to report anything false. Also, since my EGM(if not a fraud deal) won't come for another 12 weeks I dont think i'm going to be reading it.

I like star wars, but I don't think I'd buy that thing... unless it was going for cheap... atleast I still like star wars WAY more than Star Trek.
