Sorry guys but I don't find the shit, piss and toilet discussions funny or entertaining. It seems its all your capable of doing, It can be funny once in a while but you do it every week extensively.

Its literally the same shit every week, wombats some old jokes cheapys new fancy purchase and shipwreck being super dull. I used to be a huge fan and would never miss the show but recently I struggle to listen to the whole thing.

Your at episode 216 and I think you need to mix it up a bit. Some new features and segments to the show would go a long way I think.

Anyway about Harmonix...

I was talking about this topic in the Rock Band forum and mentioned that one of Rock Band's problems is their marketing. All they do is bring up the keyboard in their TV spots and even then it's a small bit at the end. The ad itself just seems to be more of an announcement for a 3rd game; it doesn't show any game play and really only alludes to the fact that Bohemian Rhapsody is more than likely in the game (because it's the song being sung in the commercial).

I feel like more of their market dollars need to go towards showing that there is a keyboard, vocal harmonies, that they offer up new DLC every week and that it is easy to access, and that all in all it is the BETTER game. Instead though people just see it as another music game that isn't Guitar Hero which the brand that has a foothold on the minds of the casual.

I feel like the lone ad they run is total garbage as far as advertising goes. They put so much into the game and all they show off in the commercial is the fact that a new game is out. That kind of marketing I think only appeal to current fans; they need to put some shit in the commercial that makes people say, "Man Guitar Hero is cool* and all, but this Rock Band 3 looks tight as shit!"

As far as them losing money, what did Harmonix make in the past years while just putting out DLC and smaller releases? Maybe overtime they'll recoup their losses with the DLC after losing money putting out a new title? I don't know.

*Guitar Hero is actually total garbage in my eyes. Total. Garbage.

The sad thing about Harmonix's situation is that a whole line of plastic horn instruments/controllers may never come to be. No rocking out (or the brass section version thereof) to Goody Two Shoes.

Companies do market research prior developing advertisements to determine how to deliver the message. Unless an ad campaign is complete trash (i.e. PS3 baby), it's unlikely that a change in messaging would make a huge impact on sales.

As far as Harmonix's results (source):

2008 - $678MM sales, $87MM loss

Cheapy, I was disappointed that you didn't know what A2M meant. You were the guy that recommended UPorn, Red Tube, and other various sites that have categories, and A2M is definitely a category. Pay attention to what you are wathing.

Ship was a bit hard on the Kinect. As he pointed out, set-up is easy, you don't need the controller for the menus IF you are in the Kinect menus. Motion control and voice only work for the Kinect dashboard, expecting it to work on the rest of the dash is silly.

Changing players on the fly works extremely well, stand in front of the camera, wait to be scanned, new player acknowledged. The Wii and Move do not have this ability, right? Makes it great for parties.

I don't get the whole "standing in your own pee" complaint of pissing in the shower. Doesn't everyone who pees in the shower aim for the drain?

Wombat I don't think I've heard you mention the new Avengers cartoon on the cagcast yet. Have you checked it out? It's been surprisingly good imo. They're really setting up for a lot of the classic Avengers storylines.

Great episode this week. Can't beat a good CAGCAST!
