New Years sales in Japan

Me and my wife are spending some time in Japan with her family and there are some great deals this time of year. They almost feel better then the sales you find during Black Friday. Plus the stores don't make you wake up at the ass crack of dawn to get what you want. We strolled up to the local electronics store in Chofu called Joshin and got her mom and grandmother both a new LCD tv for ~$475 and only had to wait in line for 20mins. The store opened at 10:00AM and there were only 5 people in line. We also got some games and a new PSP-3000 from other stores today for super cheap.

I put an article up on my site about the events here.

Cant wait to see what deals we can get tomorrow.

Don't most stores clearance tvs out in January to make room for newer models? Good buy either way on the tvs.

Yup, these sales almost make the prices competitive with U.S. pricing...

It was interesting to see on the Japanese news the long lines some other stores had. Plus all of this happens over several days. So instead of one crazy day like Black Friday, there are 3-5 days and sales can change each day store to store.
