Well, tried the demo and am loving the atmosphere/setting. The combat doesn't seem that bad. So I will get it to tide me over until LA Noire comes out I suppose. That or it will sit in my backlog but either way, I'm buying it.

But I've heard it's VERY linear and linear to me equals boring.
The city is sandbox style and you can go wild and kill people and do police chases if you want. That said, the game is extremely story driven, so it's very linear. There is always a specific place you need to be, and not any real reason to explore the town, but there is some fun stuff to do, like customizing your car and getting suits.

I really enjoyed the game, it was a fun cover based shooter that stole EVERYTHING from mafia movies like Godfather and was better for it. The characters were cool, and it was well acted.

My biggest complaint with the game would be the bad checkpoints. Lots of respawns before cutscenes or in certain parts of the game they were too spread out. If you start a mission on the east side of town and have to go to the west side but crash your car on the way there, you respawn all the way across town. It's annoying.

All in all, I still highly recommend it.

Arggh I'm debating. I already was finishing up beating Halo and now I'm trying to start Heavy Rain to go through my backlog. Now this comes up. This is a great deal though and is on my backlog list .... damn.

Thanks Cheapy.

I already rented this game and played it for a weekend. Got about 800/1000 gamerscore on it...if I hadn't already played it, 12.99 would be a steal but I just don't see any point in picking it up now. Really great game with a solid story though. It really does feel like you're in the mafia in the ' 60s. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it yet.

I was just thinking today about Gamefly and whether or not they would have deals. Unfortunately it has to be during a point where I'm buying a lot of new games. I'd love to get Mafia 2 for this price but I can't see myself devoting the time to it right now. However, if Alan Wake pops up, I'll buy it no questions asked.

Hey I've got one of those two! Standard issue with high-strength concrete and stainless steel.

Debating this, but haven't puled a trigger yet. It's just going to sit there in shrinkwrap for months anyway.

Well, if it helps, this is for a used copy.
