LackeyCCG



LackeyCCG is a tool for playing any CCG (collectible card game) online (or offline in solitaire mode). It's also a great tool for building and designing decks. You can create your own CCG or download a plugin of an existing game and play with your friends.

History: My friends and I have always enjoyed playing CCGs, like Magic: the Gathering, Lord of the Rings, Warlords, Yu-Gi-Oh, Star Wars, and many others. The genre was invented by Richard Garfield (the creator of Magic) in the early 90s. What I find really cool about CCGs is that they involve a lot of creativity and strategy even before the game starts. Building a deck requires artifice, craftsmanship, and imagination. Being a fan of other CCGs, me and my friends thought it would be cool to be able to design and create our own games and play them. Then we all went off to different colleges and could no longer play any CCGs together. Desiring a means to play CCGs online, and finding every existing program to do so woefully inadequate, I decided to create LackeyCCG.

Scrapped is a fast-paced, side-scrolling platformer modeled after popular FPS games. The player controls one of more than 5 unique robots, each with their own special ability including cloaking, inverting gravity, and a jetpack. While there are 3 single-player gameplay modes, the emphasis is on the 5 multiplayer modes, including Capture-the-Gear, Deathmatch, and Last Robot Standing. Unlike most platform games, Scrapped allows the player to aim in any direction with the mouse, allowing the player to place their shots as effectively as possible. Megazell's Comment - Much of this game is in Japanese. You should be able to up and run this game with no problem unless you're on Vista. The guys/gals at Caiman have a great break down of the menu system and such - http://www.caiman.us/scripts/fw/f1509.html - I really want to get into this game but the language barrier is just too much. Maybe one day a fan will make an English like what was made for Cave Story so I could enjoy it better.

EA orders fan sites to pull Ultima IV

The classic RPG Ultima IV has been freely available to download for years, but distribution sites have suddenly started getting cease and desist letters from EA. Sites hosting downloads and flash versions of Ultima IV have been forced to pull the game, starting rumours that EA may be planning a new entry in the Ultima series.

RPS noticed a report on Ultima Aiera noting that many sites that had been distributing the game have been forced to stop. The game has been available for free since 1997, which begs the question, why are EA protesting now?

Eurogamer links the story to a few other EA tidbits. A recent advert appeared looking for MMO web architect to work on an unnannounced title. Paul Barnett, designer on Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, has recently tweeted to say that he’s working on a new secret project at Mythic. Could a new Ultima Online be on the cards?

Manic Miner

Miner Willy, while prospecting down Surbiton way, stumbles upon an
ancient, long forgotten mine-shaft. On further exploration, he finds
evidence of a lost civilization far superior to our own, which used

materials for their advanced industry. After centuries of peace and
prosperity, the civilization was torn apart by war, and lapsed into a long
dark age, abandoning their industry and machines. Nobody, however,
thought to tell the mine robots to stop working, and through countless
aeons they had steadily accumulated a huge stockpile of valuable metals
and minerals, and Miner Willy realizes that he now has the opportunity to
make his fortune by finding the underground store. Can YOU take the
challenge and guide Willy through the underground caverns to the
surface and riches. In order to move to the next chamber, you must
collect all the flashing keys in the room while avoiding nasties like
POISONOUS PANSIES and SPIDERS and SLIME and worst of all, MANIC MINING
ROBOTS. When you have all the keys, you can enter the portal which will
now be flashing. The game ends when you have been "got" or fallen
heavily three times.

Theme: Pest Extermination

In this game you play a penguin. Actually you play two penguins – at the same time, no less. All the levels are split in two, and at the beginning of a level you start off with a penguin on each side of the screen. They can more freely from one half to the other though. Ultimately the objective is to guide both penguins to the top of the screen and have them meet up at the heart-cage, but the game has a very interesting play-mechanic where only one of the penguins are controlled “directly” – the other penguins left/right movement is reversed, and combined with the mazes not being symmetrical, this gives the game a bit of a puzzle twist and of course you also have to deal with enemies and power ups on top of trying to guide your penguins safely to the exit.

The Night Before Christmas

The object of the game is to collect presents and put them under the Christmas tree. But that’s not all – you also have to make sure not too many kids are awake at the same time. In the game there is an alarm clock and once 65% of the allowed kids awake is reached it will start to ring, to warn you that there’s too many awake. You can control this by zapping the kids with your trusty sleep gun and sending them back to bed. As if that wasn’t enough – items will appear in the house and kids will eat most things they come across and the more they eat the more full they will be – and the fuller they are (shown by a bar over their heads) the longer it will take to send zap them back to bed. If the kids are completely full they will stop up and start to cry and only stop after a lot of zapping with your sleep gun. Be aware that crying kids make a lot of noise, so they will count for 1½ kid and make the alarm go off faster than normal…no time to waste then.

You also have to eat yourself – to keep your stamina up…which is also a good reason to keep the number of kids down, because they’ll eat the things you need. Luckily the kids knows what Santa likes the most – milk and cookies, so they won’t touch them at all. Those are also the things that will give you the most energy.

You use the lift in the middle of the house to go from floor to floor. It will run by itself but you also have limited control over it, so if you step into the lift on the middle floor, while the lift is going up, you can press down to take the lift down instead of going all the way to the top first.

It may start slowly in the beginning but you will be rushing about in no time, having to make choices such as going away from the Christmas tree even though you’re carrying a present, to zap kids somewhere else, to make sure their number is kept down. Santa is a busy dude.
