After another long period of radio silence, we’re back with news. Yeah, I know, finally. Here’s the gist: We just sent an update to Apple that - as promised - brings Game Center support. It’s probably going to be available for download within a week. Carcassonne now has achievements, more leaderboards and it has become way easier to just play with your friends and invite them by using Game Center. We initially released Carcassonne before Game Center was available and had to build our own multi-player experience, so it’s great to now be more tightly integrated with existing games and friends by supporting Game Center as well. There’s also news about the long awaited expansions: We have made good progress laying the foundations for all expansions and getting the game to a point were it can be played in a more modular fashion to support cherry-picking rules and features of expansions in the future. After the Game Center update, we now will concentrate on polishing the first two of the expansions we’re going to release. Namely “Inns and Cathedrals” and “The River II”. It will still take us a few months to make them as good as we want them to be, however. Yeah, it sure takes us a lot of time to get these things done. We’re sorry for making you wait. We love the game and think it deserves the time to make it truly great, instead of doing a quick but sloppy port, like it unfortunately happens so often on other platforms and to others of our favorite board games. We want to do better. Thanks for having the patience to let us do so.

supposedly game center is coming in the next update.

Thanks for all the invites and accepting mine. I've only ever played the ai on iOS and Xbox, so, glad to have some human opponents. I thoroughly expect to learn from you guys.

Yes! All CAGs.

I hope they get the expansions out for Carcassonne soonish. I'd much rather be playing with Inns & Cathedrals, and I'l like to try other expansions out that I don't have yet (in the real game).

We always play with Inns and Catedrals and Traders and Builders. We also play with King and Baron tiles (but not the bonus points), and sometimes we play with the Princess an Dragon tiles but never the rules from that set.

But I&C and T&B are must add sets. Hopefully they bump it up to 6 players like the expansions do too.

I may ask my wife for the Traders and Builders expansion for Fathers Day. You've got to like the pigs.

I'm in for expansions if they release them. BTW, not sure if I have many CAG games or GAF games, but, hit me up on bigwinnerx at gmail dot com if interested.

The Dev Blog for Carcassonne announced that River II and Inns and Cathedrals will be the first expansions. Hopefully that means 6 players as well.

Also look for Game Center support and achievements coming very soon.

Yeah! Specifically they say they submitted the GC update (and I think they're saying the foundation for future expansions) to Apple, so it's just a matter of when it gets approved. The blog post is from the 13th, so maybe this week? However it's going to be several months before we get the expansions. They're taking their time and it has definitely shown so far, so I'm going to try to be patient. Hopefully once they get River II and Inns & Cathedrals out, it won't be so long before other expansions appear.

I'm assuming Game Center support will be out any day now, since they've submitted the update to Apple.

I am very annoyed with how long it's taken them to put out the expansions, but they've made a quality product, so it's hard to stay mad.
