Hydra Castle Labyrinth isn’t the first title mixing platformer and RPG elements; many other free PC games tried the same formula with some degree of success. This is also a game with a retro-style, perfect for those who can’t get enough of their NES role-playing games.

Hydra Castle Labyrinth offers 8 dungeons to explore and is more focused on exploration and combat than in RPG, something clear by the little text in display. The player starts as a weak adventurer with a puny sword but soon he’ll be able to use more powerful weapons such as arrows and axes to defeat the enemies, including bosses. A nice retro-distraction.

Super Grape Adventures is a fun yet frustrating 2D platformer that punishes players heavily for even the slightest mistake - if you fail a jump or get hurt by an enemy at any time, all of your collectibles are taken away and you'll have to replay the same level right from the beginning. That may sound a little unfair, but there are only a few rooms to explore in each of the eight stages included, and it usually takes less than two or three minutes to collect everything which you had just lost. Players may not be that forgiving when it comes to the controls though: it's slippery as heck, and landing on a one-tile platform after a jump can turn out to be a real test of your patience.

The Z key can be used to locate an exit once you're done gathering up all of the radioactive items, and holding down the X key allows you to view surrounding areas (helpful when trying to inspect what lies ahead in the next screen). Players can also switch between windowed and full screen mode with the F key. - IndieGames.Com

Iro-otoko aka Adonis is a short puzzle platformer consisting of ten levels to play through, packaged as a handy .swf file that should run on just about any modern-day internet browser. You're a sword-wielding hero who has to go around collecting coins and gems for points; the weapon you carry is used to smash coloured blocks into pieces, and the type of block that can be destroyed is determined by the currently-selected colour shown at the top of the screen.

There are three shades of colour to cycle through - red, green and blue. Destroying blocks contribute to your score, which then determines the star rating you receive once you've collected the big yellow gem located at the end of each level. Five star ratings are harder to acquire, since they require breaking just about every single coloured-block on screen.

All ten levels can be beaten in just one sitting, but getting a perfect completion rate will require a bit more effort than running straight to the yellow gem. - IndieGames.com
