One thing that pissed me off is they're using the gay'd up versions of the episodes they recently did when they started showing the old series Saturday mornings recently. It's hard to describe, but for instance, Tommy did a flip and the screen said, "Flip!" and they're doing a lot of other stupid editing to the episodes to "punch it up."

Stupid.
For those episodes, they actually have both versions. (The original and the one with the new effects) The original episodes are under "Season 1" and the redone episodes are under "Special 18"

:sigh: If Netflix wants me to drop them, they are doing an excellent job at convincing me to do so. This is the third day that I try to watch a movie instantly and it doesn't load.

Is anyone else getting "We're having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again later or select a different title." whenever they try playing a movie??

I got that message, coincidentally enough, on "The Lady Vanishes" But other movies are playing fine.

I'm going to keep the streaming plan.

It would be awesome though if they would allow you to pay 7.99 and then also choose between both DVDs and streaming. What I mean is if you don't have a DVD out then your streaming will still be available like it is now. However if you want to get a DVD sent to you, it turns your streaming off until they receive the DVD again.

I've never changed my plan so they might already do this, but if they don't they should consider it. Might think it is too much hassle though.

Hurray for 90s X-Men cartoon!

We're keeping both. It's still *way* cheaper then paying for cable and we get a lot of value out of it. It's worth it to us. I am a little ticked, though, that The 400 Blows went missing from streaming after we'd watched 1 half and then, a week later, tried to watch the other half. Oh well. We've got the DVD on the top of the queue.

Since The 400 Blows was missing, we watched Wendy & Lucy, the previous movie by Kelly Reichart (spelling could be wrong), director of the excellent film Meek's Cutoff. Wendy & Lucy didn't disappoint. Very good movie. Now we really need to see Old Joy.

Logistically, that would suck for both Netflix AND the user base.

You wouldn't get streaming back as soon as you put the DVD in the mail - they have to receive it first, meaning for 1-2 days you would be without streaming AND have no DVDs. It wouldn't be worth it for Netflix to develop such a plan.

They could let us rent DVDs on a per DVD basis, for those times when something isn't available by streaming.

Oh good, thank you. Maybe now I can stand this crap without being so pissed off and annoyed. Man, this show seemed so awesome when I was a kid.

And/or do streaming on a per title basis like Blockbuster does. I'd be more apt to do that as I use DVDs a lot more than streaming since I mainly watch newer releases and a lot of the older stuff I want to watch isn't on streaming anyway.

I agree for netflix and most people it probably wouldn't be worth it.

Personally I tend to watch streaming quite a bit but after a while I wil kind of layoff for a week or so then come back to it. Would be cool to get a newer release that time off streaming. But honestly I can't really complain this is still an awesome service for 8 bucks a month.

Mad men is awesome.

Yeah, either way really. Though it would probably be a ripoff if they did. If it were more than $1 for a DVD it would really be cheaper to just go to redbox or something similar.

Unless the Redbox dvd magically appears in your hand it is impossible for it to cost a $1. I doubt many people have a redbox close enough to walk to so I dont understand how people continuously leave out the cost of going to get one when they are directly comparing the price to netflix.

You cant knock/compare/talk about netflix for increasing their price due to postage and then conveniently leave out the prices of gas when going to get a redbox movie. The fact of the matter is it cost roughly 3 or 4 bucks (depending on location) and takes 10-20 min to get a redbox dvd.

I dont know why I am a stickler for this...but it reminds me of a sleezy salesman who is trying to convenice me that a item that cost $7,999.99 is a much better deal than an item that cost 8,000.

For our last discussion when I worked it out the nearest redbox for me was 5 miles = 20miles round trip, my car gets 24 mpg..total cost around 3.80 for gas 1 buck for redbox = $4.80ish and roughly 24min of drive time.

I am not even knocking redbox I just want the truth to be told when talking about it.

As Soodmeg notes, the convenience factor is huge for me.

I'm willing to pay more to get a DVD (or a stream) from Netflix than to use Redbox etc. since I don't have to leave the house or worry about getting it back by the deadline to not get charged an extra day etc.

I already pay more than $1 per movie most months as I've been paying $12.xx after tax for the 1 disc with Bluray plus streaming the past several months and usually only end up watching 6-10 movies a month.

Soodmeg,

One thing to keep in mind is not everyone has to drive out of the way to a Redbox. Some people have one directly on their way home, or walking distance from their home or workplace. So gas needs factored in, but part of that is that it's not applicable for everyone. I used to use it some in gradschool as there was a redbox on campus so it wasn't a hassle at all. The university I work at currently doesn't have one on campus, and the nearest one is a mile and a half or so out of my normal driving route so I seldom bother with it.
