Apparently they're taking GTA4 for around $6 right now... so $12 after the trade in bonus? For a game I have an extra of? Not bad at all.

Looking forward to trading in a small selection of wonderful titles at BBY tomorrow. I plan on using my wealth to purchase some wonderful little portable game for my plane trip back to Colorado.

So long, Jonas for DS! Even though I picked you up for only $3, you'll find a better home at Best Buy for $4 before bonuses!

You might want to check your math there. $6 x 1.5 (or even 1.6) ≠ $12.

If it's $6, you'll get $9 with the 50% bonus, or $9.60 if you're a GCU member.

How often these questions are popping up greatly alarms me.

The worse part it that we are going to continue to get questions like that daily

Here kids paste this in Excel in cell B1

=A1*0.5+A1+A1*0.1

Put the base value in A1

Cell B1 will display what you will get with 10% GCU and 50% bonus

You're welcome bitches.

I can't say I didn't see the store closings coming. Going into best buys here in the metro at times are like ghost towns, tons of blue shirts just hanging out and chatting it up like you'd see at the water cooler.

Besides that, they've been popping up stores like cockroaches in the last few years, and over saturation tends to bite you in the ass... Unless of course you're Walmart or GameStop.

If they can't figure out what their trade in would be with bonuses what makes you think they know what Excel formulas are? Not trying to start anything just saying.

I put that into twitter and it didn't give me anything.

They don't need to know "Why" or "How" it works. If they follow my instructions and "paste it" they should hopefully be able to let the program work for them.

What are you going to do when they ask for the TIV for a $19 game?

(BTW: I know it is 1.6x, but I wrote my formula like that in case they actually wanted to learn how to do it. It is also not technically in the right order mathematically either.)

Here's an example on how to calculate the bonuses for all the mathematically challenged CAGS out there.

Base Value X 50% & 10% GCU Bonuses
.19 x 60 = 11.4

Base Value + Bonuses
19 + 11.4 = $30.4 Total

Might want to check the formula again. It works, but it is not right.

??? Ok, now you've lost me.

a+b*c = c*b+a. What order?

Decimal's in the wrong place and I think it was just luck that it worked out because the numbers are wrong also.

A. total TIV (order doesn't matter) = base value * 1.5 * 1.1

or

B. total TIV = (base value * 0.5) + (base value * 0.1) + (base value)

The poster who posted referencing Excel is using a variant of B for his calculation.

Oh quick edit. If you don't have the GCU for the extra 10% bonus, just remove 1.1 from the A formula or (base value * 0.1) from the B formula.

is it really that hard to just figure out what half the value is, plus move the decimal over one place for the extra 10.
19+9.5+1.9= 30.40
