They made a video game based on a really really really really really stupid game show which features games that are built around the idea that you can practice and play them at home? I quit.

Looks like Rise of Nightmares is a good price. Is it lower than $18 anywhere else?

No, unless you can find one at your local TRU, I think they have them clearenced for $10, but not an easy find.

Okay, I searched Newegg for Kinect games. Yeah, a lot of games are pretty cheap...

the interesting...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874169088
Puss in Boots for $16

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874170065
Child of Eden $16

Child of Eden rocks. Yes, the download code can be bought for cheap but if you don't have the hard drive space or you want to have a disc, this game is awesome...

Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout $18
this is good well-rounded exercise game. but be warned that you have to stick around in the program for awhile because the programs are designed for long-term usage. so if you only use it for a couple of weeks, you'll be complaining of a lack of variety when the various exercises take time to be exposed.

the advantages:
1) it has floor routines. lots of the others do not (most notably, Your Shape Fitness but 2012 does have floor routines).
2) it takes advantage of equipment such as an exercise ball or weights
3) it has online multiplayer so if you want to exercise with other people, you have that option. most of the other exercise games do not have online multiplayer. I think Zumba Fitness is the only other one. The other exercise games only have leaderboard type stuff, not actually talking and exercising with each other.
4) it has a lot of customization, exercise tips, recipes, etc.

the disadvantages:
1) if you don't stick around, you'll start to feel the exercises are repetitive. but remember that exercise is supposed to be a lifestyle change and not something you do for a couple of weeks. so if you stick around, you'll start to see tons of different exercises.
2) the minigames are not particularly fun. this is where Your Shape Fitness has an advantage (love the punching exercises in Your Shape). if you want more fun, try out Fighters Uncaged which was meant to be a game but is better as an exercise game.
3) the graphics aren't good. the customization of your onscreen avatar is not good
4) menu navigation is horrible. the buttons are tiny. there is no controller option like other kinect games. i ended up leaving my avatar as a 400 pound ugly beast because it was so cumbersome to change his features via the button navigation.

Rise of Nightmares $18
This one is polarizing. The action is fantastic as the melee feels really really good, especially when you get some of the really nice weapons. And moving from one bad guy to the next is pretty easy (just do the blocking which will autocenter you on the guy attacking you). Movement is the tricky part. Sometimes it's really easy to walk around. Other times, it's tedious and tiresome. You can autowalk which goes on a default pathway but that skips all the items that you can find which require manual walking.

Dance Paradise $15

Now, Dance Paradise is not going to be among your favorite dance games. Dance Central 1/2, Just Dance 3, The Black Eyed Peas Experience, and Rhythm Party are more fun and better. Buy those before you buy this. But it does rock a great soundtrack and does have some fun qualities. And it's hilarious in a local multiplayer situation. So if you want to mix it up with something different...

the curious (always wanted to try a retail build but too expensive or too many negative reviews)...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874163048
Sonic Free Riders for $15

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874169072
Kung Fu Panda 2 $16

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874105721
Virtua Tennis 4 $16
From what I read, the Kinect implementation is okay. It's just half-hearted meaning that it's only available in a free play mode. You can't use it in the main campaign or in the minigames which defeats the purpose.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874152014
Jillian Michaels Fitness Adventure $16
Amazon just had this on sale for $10. Looks interesting. A possible addendum to one of your main fitness games (be it Your Shape, The Biggest Loser, UFC Personal Trainer, etc.).

neat but not for me...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874330031
Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster $15

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874169082
Deepak Chopra's Leela $15 - if you want to meditate through your Xbox... it is pretty relaxing...

only if you have some spare money and are bored...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874166018
Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do $16

There are a few good games in Carnival Games, but most are either way too short or not interesting. I wouldn't even call them minigames. More like microgames.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16874357001
Yoostar 2: In the Movies $17
Okay, this is not a great game. And it's not a great savings compared to its typical price is (hovering around $20 nowadays?). But if you think of it as movie karaoke for $17, then the experience is pretty decent.

If you don't care about having a physical disc, you can pick up Carnival Games for $7 on ebay.

Rise of Nightmares (my review) is descent and I really enjoyed Puss in Boots (my review) which I played recently and would say it is one of the better "non party" kinect games out there. Once upon a Monster is fun/cute if you have a young son/daughter/nephew/etc. to play through the game with. Not much depth to it or anything.

Not even worth it at that price for me. It had horrible physics/detection and simple, simple games that even my 7 year old daughter got bored of in 5 minutes

Yeah, for $7, I'd get Carnival Games... For $16, I'd have to be in an awfully good mood and feeling generous and wanting to show Newegg some love.

These games are still about $10 too high for their quality.
