I prefer leaving some deals for others to get in on. I usually just pick up one copy. On rare occasions I'll pick up a second copy for a friend.

I would be very annoyed to see someone buying more than a few copies of the same game that I'm after. Obviously, they're going to turn around resell them at a higher price.

So by that way of thinking, I'm not a cheapassflipper.

I just buy shitty games that nobody will have any interest in anyway and trade them in to MicroCenter for a 300% profit. Not getting paid for the trade-in itself, but for keeping this trash off the streets!

what was the target thing?

I flip a lot of things at thrift stores. As far as retail, I've bought a few things from other places to get a good trade in somewhere else, however if a collector from here wants something from here, or a friend wants the game ill pick it up and sell it to them at cost.

One part of the flipping aspect that I don't like are people who try to low ball people out of things, or lie to them about the real value, even worse say its for their collection and then flip it.

Im a flipper.
I buy cheap games to pad my tradelist and have lowballs when events where I plan to spend money at come up, ie Comic con, black friday.

And I always keep an updated list on Craigslist for quick sales.

Ah, flipping... I've done it twice, as far as I can remember, and not at all within the past 3 years.

I bough two used copies of MGS: Twin Snakes(at GS) right before MGS4 launch, and flipped them on ebay for about a $20 profit on each.

Then, I bought a couple games on amazon around BF, and flipped them back to WM for a $25 profit on each.

IMO, it's really not worth the time and effort unless you have a decent amount of free time. Also, I do hate it when people do it like crazy whenever a store has a sale... Drives me nuts and makes me lose a chance at purchasing said sale item.

Iv done it a few times where you see some profit that's worth it. For the most part though its nickel and diming and too much effort involved for too little return. Rather flip something worthy precious metals, cars, etc.

My flipping usually came from pawn shops and thrift stores, where I'd find old games and then sell them online. I did it daily but it was usually a waste of gas because it might take a whole week before I found something worthwhile. Nowadays, I go to a thrift store maybe once a week at most so if I find something, that's great otherwise no biggie.

The most I ever take advantage of a sale/promo is 2 times. As for flipping I only do it for one copy and it would have to net me at least a 40% profit for it to be worth it for me. I don't think I have any flippers in my area besides the rare occurrence where maybe an employee bought it before me since I always see plenty stock available week long or even month long like the March @gamer offers so I keep my flipping at most to 1 copy or none.

I think some people have a misconception of flippers. I flip, but I don't horde and buy out stock, especially at places like Target/BB etc. Most horders are lurkers and don't even talk on the forums.

I did buy a lot of games with the Target deal recently, but it was mostly to get rid of the stock of crappy games I had built up over time, and most of the games I bought were for me to play. To each his own though.

That and the PS+ card from target are about the only things I've ever flipped from a retail store (even then, I only got two PSN cards; one to sell and one to keep.)

I usually just buy one copy of a game or 2 if its cheap and I know my friend might be interested. Not always buying a game to play it though, and I usually don't try to make a whole lot off a flip. Would rather just share my finds with other people who are looking for a good deal.

We have a store in Pitt called the Record Exchange, and I usually find good stuff there that is easy to flip. But again, I would rather spend my time looking for good deals on games that others might be looking for rather than by a bunch of crap and try to make cash off it.

Guess I am not so much a flipper as I am just a nice person or something?

I only flip stuff from thrift stores, and even then I only do it if I'm going to make a good profit. I'm also not a person who lists items on Amazon or eBay at super high prices fishing for idiots. When I sell stuff, I look at the lowest current listed price on Amazon, subtract 2 or 3 dollars, and post it at that price.

So, does "flipping" include buying from garage sales to sell for profit?

Normally, when I'm at a thrift store, rummage etc I shop for myself first but if it's a good enough deal and I notice there is a demand on CAG for it I'll pick it up. The only time I did it at a store was my walmaty marked down all of our copies of Metroid Prime Trilogy 3 weeks after release to $20 each(10 copies). I dropped the $200 and made off with more than $500. Let's be honest, ANY gamer would've hopped on that chance.

This is a question of morality. I personally wouldn't buy ten copies of a game for cheap just to trade them in for marginal store credit because I would want other people to have a chance at getting the same deal I got. I would, however, buy a sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. 3 if I found it at a lawn sale for $5.

I think "flipping" constitutes the routine act of buying multiple retail copies of the same game for cheap with the intent of selling them for personal gain, and that's just incredibly selfish. There are better ways to make money than screwing over fellow consumers.

I think most of the disgust is from the flippers that are considered hoarding, you know the ones who buy 4+ copies, and comes on CAG to brag about it. I have no problems with people buying 2-3 copies to cover there cost to get a free copy for themselves.
