This search bar is a powerful tool for navigating CAG. You can use it to find the lowest prices on games, trade-in values, search members, forum and blog topics, and much more.
After searching for a game title, click the
icon to pop-up a window with pricing information.
After typing in what you are looking for, you can filter your results by clicking on one of the tabs that pops up from the top of the search bar.
Looking for a game on a specific platform? Type in the platform name with the title!
Example: guitar hero 360
You don't need to click a pop-up tab to filter results. Just type what you are looking for right into the search bar.
Example: gears of war prices
Example: ninjatown review

Steam - Portal 2 - DEAL WITH IT! :P
Celebrating the release of Portal 2's Perpetual Testing Initiative, Steam is having a Weekend Workshop Madness sale.
Portal 2 is 66% off = $6.79! Last edited by billymagnum; 05-13-2012 at 10:12 AM.. |

I swear, it seems like people want CAG to turn into a series of retailer-specific threads that users have to check individually every day. What's wrong with the old format of simply posting good deals? If I wanted to monitor a separate thread for every retailer that might potentially have a deal, I would bookmark their websites and skip CAG altogether. |

I think both of you are swinging towards two extremes when there can be a nice middle line here. The generalized threads help keep things orderly and are a necessity for some of these deals but I also think sometimes there are deals that are so good that they deserve their own post. I know this creates its own problem since there's all sorts of subjective opinions as to what constitutes a "good deal".... I dunno, I guess it's like porn, you can't describe it but you know it when you see it. |

I think this should have its own thread also. I constantly check steam for deals and periodically check the steam deal thread for deals, as well, but Portal 2 is such a great game and this is such a great price, it definitely deserves some recognition.
Portal 2 is the best coop experience I have had in recent memory. My friend and I bought day one and played through the coop and had the best time. I sold it shortly after because I had beaten it and needed some cash. However, I saw this deal and had to buy it again, especially with the Steam Workshop support. Some of those fan-created puzzles are excellent. Also, my friend and I are currently replaying it (approximately a year later) and we are having, dare I say, even more fun. My second GOTY for last year, right after Arkham City and tied with Dark Souls. :p

Honestly, I don't really have a problem with creating the odd thread to point out especially good deals. When I saw this thread this morning though, I thought to myself, "man some douchbag is gonna come in here and rip this guy to shreds for posting this outside the steam thread". So I thought I'd better point out the steam thread in a polite manner before somebody came here and was a jerk about it.
I was just trying to save the OP a little grief. I don't know, maybe I shouldn't have done that. As already pointed out by iamsmart though. The notion of creating threads for every game on sale on steam is insanity. The Steam thread does serve useful purpose. |

Thanks for posting OP, I would have never found this deal since I do not check the steam thread

The Steam thread is ALWAYS on the front page. Refusing to check it or acknowledge it's existence is just lazy.
This is a great price though. |

Will the portal 2 editor cost anything outside of this sale or will that component always be free?

It is amazing how annoyed people get when you post a steam deal outside of the steam thread.

Seriously, you "against the grain" nonconformist douches who like to act apprehensively towards someone merely pointing out there's a topic for all Steam deals should just leave CAG altogether. Isn't that what CAG is, an aggregate of video game deals? Why do you even bother coming here? Just check the individual websites every day, since it's obviously the best choice. |

When the Steam thread was A New Thing, I was in the camp that preferred individual threads for each new deal. But Steam is now is a deal-making factory. There are presently 38 games in Steam with a discount on them, 17 of them are a very newsworthy 50% off or more.
There is no way that it's better for the CAG deals forum to have 20+ threads advertising good sales on Steam. Not to mention, the lesser games just flop off the bottom, and when they're 3 pages deep, some good samaritan who can't find the game's thread just reposts, making even more clutter. That thread is beastly, and it requires about 20-30 minutes/day to really participate, or at least follow. It's truly a forum of its own. But it does serve a great purpose for the small PC gaming community here. I agree that worthy Steam sales deserve their own threads, too. Heck I've even created one or two. But I'm surprised by the hate for the Steam thread. It's really a great catch-all for PC game discussion. |

I wish the wiki feature would allow the thread creators to promote a handful of people to a higher level so that they could edit the title as well as the first post. A few users and myself are the ones who usually end up posting the daily deal in the thread when it goes live and I know that I would update the thread title with games of note, like Portal 2 and Skyrim, when they went on sale. There wouldn't be any need for this discussion if that feature existed.
Some people don't seem to like store specific threads, but with so many Steam deals every Tuesday and Thursday you run the risk of pushing a bunch of other threads off the first page. That niche Japanese game you wanted? It's gone, 3 pages back before you noticed the thread because Steam is having an awesome weekend. |
